Tigresses swat Thunders aside in Rainbow Paints

Complex Tigresses  were at their ruthless best against a gallant Thunder Queens  at Blantyre Youth Centre on Saturday in the Southern Region Netball League, outclassing them  46-38 to increase their chances of clinching the league.

Looking like a captive lion released back into its natural environment, Sindi Simutowe caused havoc from the opening moments of the game as she notched most of the baskets.

In defence, Grace Mwafulirwa  strong footwork, consistent hassling and incessant chatter set the tone for a full- court defensive effort – and put Thunders shooter, on notice.

Thunders Sherati, came into the match with an 52% shooting accuracy and one of the skillful netballers in the Rainbow Paints League, but had her work cut out with a marauding  Mwafulirwa clearly on a mission.

Tigresses coach Peace Chawinga Kaluwa, who is known for her no-nonsense
approach and commitment to nurturing young talent, brought an experienced side featuring the likes of Lauren Ngwira, who partnered Simutowe.

Tigresses were more dangerous in the third quarter when they  started like a shot out of a gun, with a pile of baskets  before Thunders  finally responded  through the likes of Thandi Galeta.

Despite Thunders introducing fresh hands, but it didn’t slow the Simutowe’s  juggernaut. Both she and Ngwira continued their dominance and finished the game on a high note.

In other matches, Diamonds were unstoppable in their 77-11 victory against Shizaella.

Tumbukas are gamblers and when a chance comes, who should stop them? No wonder Joice Banda did not see them well in advance she would be outwitted by the likes of Kasambara, Ngwira and all the northerners when she became President. Shame on you Tumbukas!,
