According to Tigresses coach Peace Kaluwa , the event is aimed at raising funds to help the team which has no sponsors.

“As you are aware that Tigresses has no sponsors and we are struggling financially we thought it wise to organize a dinner and dance in order to raise money. During games we struggle to source money for our accommodation and transport in our away games. We also need money for our players transport to and from training,” said Kaluwa.

Instead, Kaluwa is urging companies to buy tables at K150, 000 and that some tickets are being sold at K7000.

There are also raffle tickets which are also selling at K500 and cop table is K150, 000.

“Apart from organizing this dinner and dance, we are knocking doors of different companies or well wishers to sponsor this team. Sponsoring netball is cheaper and we do not need so much,” she pleaded.

Tigresses contribute a number of players to Malawi Queens like Sindi ‘Sniper’ Simutowe, Beatrice Mpinganjira, Lauren Ngwira and Grace Mwafulirwa.

Previously, they enjoyed sponsorship from the late President Bingu wa Mutharika.

Bingu started sponsoring Tigresses in 2009 a year after the team had won the Presidential Championship on its inauguration.

The Kau-Kau ladies had been without sponsorship since the death of Bingu.

Currently Tigresses are the Rainbow Paints Southern Region Netball League champions.

For those people and companies who want to buy the tickets can contact Peace Kaluwa on the following numbers 0999340545, 088891661 or Hellene Mpinganjira on 0999956526 or 0888956526.
