Tiny Umodzi Party goes  for convention Sept 29, no challenger for Chisi

One of the tiny parties in the country, Umodzi Party is set for a national elective convention on September 29 with 200 delegates only and no challenger for its vocal leader John Chisi.

Deputy publicity secretary for the party Sadana Bakili said the UP constitution allows party president to stand for two consecutive terms without any challenger at the convention.

“He is protected by the party constitution. No one will be allowed to challenge him but all other positions will be up for grabs,” said Bakili.

Bakili said it is not undemocratic for the party president to go unopposed, saying this is what the party constitution says.

The deputy party publicist said the party is ready to go into an electoral alliance with any party that might be willing to do so.
