TNM customer refuses to take K1.2m prize in Tikolole promotion

In rather bizarre and ironic news a Lilongwe based TNM customer on Monday won a K1.2 million cash prize in the ongoing Tikolole promotion but refused to take the money.

When officials of TNM picked Dennis Nkhoma as a lucky winner in the weekly draw, they phoned him to confirm his luck.

However, Nkhoma refused the prize and told the mobile network provider not to bother him with calls again.

But the TNM official phoned Nkhoma again to stress that it was no hoax. The customer maintained that he did not need the money.

TNM’s media specialist Mbumba Mliya said if the Nkhoma will not collect his prize money, the company will refer the matter to the National Lotteries Board for the way forward.

“I want to think that the winner of today probably couldn’t believe that he is indeed the winner of K1.2 million. So we are going to call him again together with national lottery’s board just to verify and confirm with him that he is indeed our winner,” said Mliya.

Mliya said the winner may have dismissed the call assuming it may be a hoax and they would want him to formally accept winning the prize and decline it.
