Making the donation, in the area of Traditional Authority Kuntumanje, Senior Manager Public Relations Akossa Mphepo said the Company decided to join in Government Relief Efforts to those within affected areas.

“The floods have left many destitute and, as a caring, Truly Malawian brand, we decided to reach out with a few items that will aid victims as they try to regain their ground. We sought guidance from the Department of Disaster and Relief Affairs (under the Office of the Vice President) on areas that have been hardest hit and that have received the least amount of support and they directed us to T/A Kuntumanje,” Mphepo said.

Mphepo added that the company was touched by the plight of affected families and communities.

She reaffirmed TNM’s commitment towards assisting the needy people to recover from the effects of the floods.

Songani ward councillor Andrew Tambala commended TNM for the timely donation and appealed to other companies to emulate TNM’s gesture.

Over 200 families are expected to benefit from the donation which comprises plastic sheets, buckets, plates, 20 kg cream of maize flour (each family), 3.6 kg soya pieces (each family).

The distribution exercise has been done jointly with Zomba District Assembly which identified the beneficiaries.
