TNM gives Kenya-bound Malawi lady golfers K1.2m

A team of golfers under the Ladies Golf Union of Malawi has received a boost from premier mobile network service provider TNM which has given them MWK1.2m to meet the cost of their travel to Kenya for the 2014 All Africa Challenge Trophy (AACT).

Speaking after presenting the donation, Head of Marketing Sobhuza Ngwenya said TNM is proud to be associated with the success of golf in Malawi and is hopeful that the lady golfers will excel at the continental championship.

“TNM remains firmly committed to the development of golf in Malawi as we have been an established partner of the sport since 2007. Today’s assistance to the lady golfers is in keeping with that spirit,” he said.

Ngwenya said golf provides a platform through which the TNM brand interacts with its corporate and individual customers.

He said by meeting costs for the lady golfers in Kenya, TNM would like to motivate aspiring lady golfers to take the sport seriously and put Malawi on the map.

“We are confident that through this support, the three ladies travelling under TNM’s sponsorship will be motivated to excel and set new record for the country,” he said.

This year’s AACT tees-off at Muthaiga Golf Club from June 9th to June 12th. Malawi will be competing against 19 other countries and is expected to be granted rights for hosting the 2015 championship.

Chairperson of the Ladies Golf Union Wilma Chalulu thanked TNM for the timely gesture saying it would enable the ladies to network with fellow lady golfers and learn new techniques.

“We are very grateful for the gesture from TNM. Their assistance will enable our team gain exposure, learn some insights on how best to prepare for next year’s hosting of East and Central Golf Challenge which Malawi is hosting,” she said.
