TNM Super League preview – week 7

By Jeden Chilikunzako, Nyasa  Times

Week 7 of Malawi’s top-flight TNM Super League brings with it another flurry of top class football once again as teams battle it out in search of maximum points to keep their respective ambitions in the top flight nicely on the boil.

League leaders Escom United will bounce back into the battle field this weekend to consolidate their lead with a date against stubborn Blantyre United at Kalulu stadium.

The electricians had a break last weekend after a disastrous outing to the northern region where they were beaten by Embangweni United and Moyale.

Despite those defeats and not playing last weekend, the electricians are still at the summit of the log table with 15 points from 7 games with a superior goal difference against second placed Civo United with the same number of points.

Civo will entertain Cobbe at home and will be looking forward to overtaking Escom and praying that Escom falls against Blantyre United.

After shocking Bullets FC last Sunday with a 2 – 1 victory, 10th placed Epac FC travel to the northern region with their first game on Saturday against 11th placed Embangweni before taking on Moyale 24 hours later.

Struggling Silver Strikers who are in the relegation zone on 13th position will have recovery as their main agenda as they face high flying Mafco at Chitowe stadium.

The 7th placed Bullets FC have a tricky fixture at home against out of sorts Azam Tigers. This explosive encounter is slated for the country’s soccer cathedral Kamuzu Stadium. Tigers are second from bottom on the log table with 5 points from 7 games.

Another game to watch involves 5th placed Mighty Wanderers who will line up against Red Lions on Sunday at Kamuzu stadium.
