Tonse Alliance  led government has  clocked  30  days in power and President Lazarus Chakwera says his core mission to “clear the rubble” of corruption within the government is on course as they start the fourth phase of transition which he said will last for 40 days.

In a statement released on Tuesday, President Chakwera says his government has completed three of the five phases of  transitions, saying the first phase was swearing-in and inauguration .

Chakwera said that phase involved among others,  clearing “the rubble of cadets and the state filt” at the presidential palace, which he said they  will do across the state machinery.

The President said he also had to suspend politically compromised boards of parastatals until audits are done.

He said his regular radio address is aimed at enhancing transparency and advance the Tonse vision of a new Malawi, beginning with his anti-corruption drive, which he said is already bearing fruit “as law enforcement agencies are finally enjoying the independence they need to crack down on looters without fear of political interference or reprisals.”

The Malawi leader said he has appointed new heads of departments and the initial batch of chief advisors to help him manage State House affairs, as well as a new Presidential Taskforce and Office on Covid-19 to drive our efforts to contain the pandemic.

Chakwera said now Tonse government has kicked off  the fourth phase, to last 40 days which will focus on making significant progress on the appointment of new boards of parastatals, “through which the dross of sycophants will be further removed.”

He said in the fourth phase, government will be implementing lasting legislative and administrative reforms within state institutions, companies, and ministries, in readiness for rolling out key Tonse programs and promises to the people.

“In recognition of the fact that this phase demands our concerted efforts, yesterday I hosted a summit of the nine presidents of the nine parties in the Tonse Alliance.

“I am happy to report that although we each lead unique political entities, we remain unanimous and resolute in our commitment to not allow the parochial interests that may exist within our own parties to derail our collective national agenda,” he said.

Chakwera, who won a historic victory over Peter Mutharika in June, has said the alliance party leadership reaffirmed its devotion to replenish Malawi through the three pillars of the Tonse philosophy of shared responsibility for the national sins of the past, shared accountability for the work of nation-building in the present and shared prosperity from all the national treasures we have.

He urged Malawians to trust that Tonse will deliver on its promises.

    1. Arrest all those who killed the innocent cop at Nsudwe and take them to court for justice.
    2. Arrest all those cops who dewomanized innocent women of Nsundwe.
    3. Arrest all those involved in the stealing and destruction of property belonging to innocent Malawians in Lilongwe.
    4. Arrest all those unruly demonstratoors who striped off naked the woman cop who was on duty during demonstration in Lilongwe.
    5. Bring to book all those involved in the killing of Njaunju.
    6. Bring to book all those involved in the killing of Robert Chasowa at Polytechnic.
    7. Bring to book all those involved to the burning of Escom Administration block in Blantyre.
    8. Bring to book all thjose invoved in the selling of our Presidential Jet.
    9. Bring to book all those who manhandled the innocent poll obsevers during this year’e Presidential Polls.

  12. JB always wants to sit next to chakwera and the innocent reverend does not know that she is casting a spell on him. That juju made him appoint Roy as minister. She failed to do that with APM but Chakwera is an easy prey for her. You can imagine people like Ibrahim Matola who have made PP survive were left out in misterial position but she had to propose her son and Chakwera because of the juju fell for it.

    1. That’s a protocol issue. Remember JB is former President , you will notice whenever JB and Chilima are around these two sit or stand close to Chakwera. Perhaps we should move away from these so called spells.

  17. To be taken seriously with Roy Kachale and Rashy Gaffer in you Cabinet, is not possible. Malawian have high expectations from your government. You have to be serious, you cannot apply the law selectively to DPP only.

  18. Malawi’s problems have defeated you chakwera, in the 30 days all you have done is keep chisale in prison without proof that he is guilty. In the 30 days police are always investigating cases without prosecution while acb is wasting money on old cases instead of preventing new corruption under tonse government. In the 30 days ministers are touring bread bakeries. Just accept that your next phase of 40 days will not change anything, you cannot conduct forensic audits in 66 parastatals. Just appoint new board members and move on. We are tired of being over promised. Do the little you can and in five years will kick you out.

  23. If indeed you are serious on clearing the rubble move in fast on road traffic. Corruption there is the order of doing business. Also move on the immigration concerning permits. There is syndicate there where officers connive with the bank to issue fake bank deposits and they will issue the old GR then pocket all the money. One officer called Chidothi was arrested some two years ago on the same issue but he managed to bribe his way out. If you want to prove these allegations conduct a head count of all people with permit and compare to the money received. You will see that there are many people with permits and less money because all of it went into officers pockets.
