Top 6 Horror Movies That Will Keep You Awake

When it comes to watching a movie, everyone likes a different genre. Some people like romantic movies while others like comedies or thrillers. There are also some people who like horror movies. They don’t like being fraidy cats and enjoy watching things that are different.

If you’re among them who enjoy watching horror movies, you’ve come to the right place. In this article today, I’m going to share with you a list of horror movies that will keep you awake all night. If anything, they’ll satisfy the itch of thrill and suspense in your life, so let’s have a look.

The Nun

The Conjuring has five parts and the best of them all is the Nun. It’s an absolutely amazing movie that takes you through the vintage, beautiful architecture of Romania and the shady history of the Abbey of St. Carta. The Nun, a gothic supernatural movie, starts with a nun committing suicide and ends with a priest, another nun, and a French man solving the biggest mystery of Abbey of St. Carta. Released in 2018, it kept many people awake for days and nights, making it one of the best horror movies ever.

The Shining

The Shining is a great horror movie that comes with a lot of mystery. Released in 1980, it scares people even today. The movie is a psychological mystery and revolves around a recovering alcoholic who later develops a rare disease known as ‘cabin fever.’ The movie has a twist and turn at every corner and keeps you hooked all along. It also has a sequel, released in 2019, Doctor Sleep. It is incredible, too, but the Shining takes the edge as it’s more scary.

Sleepy Hollow

Sleepy hollow is one incredible movie. It is pretty old and still scares people a lot. It is another gothic supernatural horror movie that was released in 1999. The movie takes you back to 1799 when a police constable from New York City is posted to a remote area where a series of crimes have happened involving decapitations of people. Moreover, a headless horse rider is seen many times in the movie, which takes your breath away every time. The only problem is that it is pretty old and not available on platforms like Netflix and Amazon.

What you can do is stream it online and enjoy the movie. In case you cannot find a free version due to geo restrictions, you can try a good VPN for windows and then look for it. The VPN will help change your location, so you can easily access geo-blocked content or websites with restrictions.

The Exorcist

When speaking of horror movies, one cannot neglect the Exorcist. It’s one of the best supernatural horror movies of all-time. It is based on the 1971 novel, the Exorcist, by William Peter Blatty. The movie is all about a Catholic priest Lankester Merrin who’s involved in an archaeological mission and comes across ancient demons in-between. The movie made people crazy as many had adverse reactions like vomiting and fainting in the cinema. A lot of heart attacks and miscarriages were also reported after watching the movie; thus, it’s not the one to be watched alone.

Raw

Raw, a French-Belgian horror drama movie is another one you can add to your watchlist. The movie revolves around the girl, Garance Marillier, who comes across a dangerous, merciless, and decadent world in her time at a veterinary institute. There, she eats raw meat and get into a bloodbath of all the unacceptable things. The movie is a thriller and because of the graphics used and the expressions of the actors, it does scare you a lot. If you’re someone who isn’t comfortable with the sight of the blood, Raw isn’t for you.

It: Chapter One and Two

While many people think of It as a kiddy movie. It isn’t a movie for kids, especially the younger kids. It’s a movie about a strange, interdimensional creature that changes its shapes and abducts and hurts children. The movie shows a group of friends, young teen kids, battling with the spooky clown (the interdimensional creature aka the monster). Though it isn’t super scary, it does shake you up a bit as the creature changes its faces and takes on different forms.

In chapter two of the movie, the same kids that were young in the first part grow up and have to face the spooky clown once again and the trauma continues. However, they eventually succeed in getting rid of the scary creature, so the movie closes at a good end.

The Takeaway

Horror movies are more than fun if you watch them as movies and don’t get too scared. Of course, it isn’t for you if you have a weak stomach but in case that’s not the scenario, you’re all set to watch the movies mentioned above. After all, there’s no harm in having fun. What do you say?
