Transformation Alliance turning into political party: Chakwera invited to address its conference

Leader of opposition and president of Malawi Congress Party (MCP) is expected to deliver a keynote address at a national conference organized by the Transformation Alliance (TA)- a political pressure group.

Kunkuyu: TA leader

TA which was formed last year and is run by former minister of information, Moses Kunkuyu, is expected to hold its first national conference on 25th August, 2017 at College of Medicine in Blantyre.

The grouping has courted Chakwera to speak at the conference which is expected to be attended by different politicians.

MCP deputy Secretary General and spokesperson, Eisenhower Mkaka confirmed Chakwera has been invited to attend the conference.

“The invitation has been received. We have to reconcile with his dairy before coming up with a position,” Mkaka told Nyasa Times.

Chakwera will join Julius Malema a well -known politician in South Africa, a firebrand agitator who is revered and disliked in equal measure as another speaker will be Zambia’s leader of United Party (UP), Saviour Chishimba and that he has already confirmed his attendance.

TA spokesman, Leonard Chimbanga could not confirm or deny about Chakwera attending the conference late alone making a keynote address, but confirmed that the leader of opposition has been invited to attend the conference.

“He has been invited since we share similar views on matters of national interests,” he said.

Meanwhile, some officials within the alliance have told Nyasa Times that the pressure group is working on turning into a political party ahead of 2019 elections apart from working underground to forge an alliance with other political groupings including Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and Peoples Party (PP).

“I can’t comment on any coalition talks right now and about TA turning into a political party. But you should know that TA supports those who are fighting corruption and want to see a better Malawi,” said Chimbanga.

This is not the first time for Kunkuyu to be spearheading a pressure group as in 2011, while serving as a member of Parliament (MP) affiliated to the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) under Bingu, he also led Hope Alliance, a pressure group within DPP which later announced its working relationship with Joyce Banda following her coming into power.

Many political parties, including United Democratic Front (UDF), Alliance for Democracy (Aford) and National Democratic Alliance (NDA), started as pressure groups.

Malawians, never make mistake of voting into government parties that have never govern democratic Malawi. There are only two parties with the experience to govern democratic Malawi. The parties are UDF and DPP. The rest are amateurs!!!
MCP is well experienced in killings and dictatorial governing which have no place in democratic Malawi.
DPP/UDF ticket is the answer; hence look nowhere else.
MCP imakana boma last zipani zambiri, asatinyase.

Mr. Kunkuyu my humble advise to you, better you chose to do something else other than politics, I see you losing everything from the word go, ok how do you compare yourself with APM, L.Chakwera, A Muluzi, J. Banda … the great mafias of politics???? If you have plenty of money take it and give it to the poor or invest it into your business GOD will richly bless you. Otherwise (YOU – CAN – NOT – WIN)

The time for pressure groups is long gone. Administratively they form a pressure group but there is nothing it can do on the ground. It’s just a way of trying to solicit positions in the the already established parties.

A Chakwera awa ndi Maloto achumba. DPP is going nowhere in 2019. DPP has not yet finished its development agenda and all Malawians can not afford to take DPP out of Govt now. Inu a MCP will always be leaders of opposition. Pepani kwambere.

DPP Boooma.

All invited guests are opposition party members and or leaders to their party, therefore i don’t see any problem of inviting Dr Chakwera since he is also opposition party leader or you think it is wrong to do that? Chishimba Saviour as his name has also played a good game to Malawians, remember the Chaponda Chimanga. this means all is well since they also have the common concerns, that is fighting against corruption. They can not even by any mistake invite Kasaira, and he can not even attend it.
