Truck kills two people in Blantyre
Two people have been killed by a three-toner truck at Chilobwe Township in Malawi’s commercial capital, Blantyre.
An eyewitness told Nyasa Times that the accident which happened Saturday around 5pm, occurred when the driver lost control the vehicle at a place known as Chilani which is near the tavern resulting in hitting two pedestrians.
Officer in-charge for Chilobwe police Diana Chisale confirmed the incident but refused to give details saying the investigations are still under way.
“I will only release the particulars of the deceased after I got a report from the Queen Elizabeth Central hospital where the bodies have been taken to,” said Chisale.
She however said the driver has surrendered himself to police. The vehicle, registration number KA4248 belongs to B.P.P Mwenebungu of Box 1711 Blantyre.
