Two children die in Lilongwe house fire

Grief has engulfed the family of Feston and Estere Maganiza of Lilongwe following the untimely and brutal death of their two children on Saturday afternoon.

The two siblings died at Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH) in Lilongwe where they were admitted to after being seriously burnt by house fire on Friday. Their mother is also in a critical condition at the same hospital.

Police said the house of Feston and Estere was allegedly set on fire by two brothers, Andrew and Aaron Toleza, to punish Estere whom they suspected of being in a secret love affair with their father, Mr.Toleza.

“The two children who are still at large reportedly torched the house in anger after they allegedly    suspected that Mrs. Estere Maganiza was secretly going out with their father,” said Lilongwe Police spokesperson Kingsley Dandaula.

He said the hospital staff failed to save the life of the Maganiza’s children as they had serious burns and they sadly died on Saturday afternoon. The victimized woman is currently receiving treatment at KCH after equally suffering potentially life-threatening fire burns.

Dandaula said once the two suspected boys are apprehended they will answer two charges of murder and arson.

“The two brothers are still at large but once we find them they will be charged with two counts of murder and arson. We are confident that we will sooner or later arrest them because they are known people,” said the police PRO.
