USA funds 250 secondary schools in Malawi: Mutharika to launch project

The United States government has funded the construction of 250 secondary schools across the country and President Peter Mutharika is set to launch the project this week.

Scott , the US ambassador to Malawi : Money from his government

According to a statement from the Office of the President and Cabinet,  Mutharika will launch the project on Tuesday in Lilongwe.

But perhaps what the statement ‘conviniently’ forgot to include is the source of the funds of the massive project.

Well, Nyasa Times will tell you that the 250 secondary schools have been funded by the people of the United States of America (USA).

“Yes the money for this massive project has been made available by the American government. That’s a fact. This was done about a year and half ago,” said a high ranking official at the Ministry of Education.

USA embassy officials also confirmed that the USA government is funding the construction of the secondary schools as part of the bilateral relations between the two countries.

But Mutharika is expected to take personal glory for the project during the launch of the project.

The statement said after the launch of the project at Kawale Community Day Secondary School, Mutharika will proceed to address a development rally at Kamuzu Institute for Youth in Lilongwe where he is expected to boast that he has brought the 250 secondary school through his wise and dynamic leadership.

US Government should keenly & closely monitor how this funding is to be used, otherwise the Prince & Princess of thieves will divert it for personal use as is usually the case with these looters!

Nyasa Times as usual attacking the leadership even before launching has taken place. It is a fact that announcements abouth the launch are on air but certainly the launching has not been done
