UTM cadres want party campaign director Lucius Banda resign

UTM cadres are forcing party campaign director Lucius Banda to step down following the dismal performance of the party during the Wednesday local government by-elections.
In the by-elections, Malawi Congress Party scooped two wards, seconded by UDF which had one ward while Democratic Progressive Party and UTM candidates did not win in any of the wards.

Lucius Banda: UTM Campaign Director
UTM members have taken up in various social media platforms to force party campaign director Lucius Banda to step down, accusing him of being preoccupied with his music career rather than campaign activities of the party.
Steve Makhalira says in a face book post that since Banda was elected to the position, he has never campaigned for the party.
“UTM is failing to taste victory because we have an incompetent campaign director,” he says.
Another UTM social media activist Aubi Frackson had no kind words for Banda, asking him to resign and concentrate on his music career.
Chisepo Phiri, another UTM diehard said it was surprising that the party failed to field a candidate in Balaka because the party could not find one even after dangling huge sums of money, despite the fact that Banda is a resident of the district.
Meanwhile, the opposition Democratic progressive Party (DPP) has been advised to put its house in order for it to regain the voters trust.
This follows the party’s bad performance in the just ended by-elections for councillors in three districts.
Political analyst, Ernest Thindwa said divisions, which have rocked the party, are making it to look disorganized.
Thindwa has since called for the leadership of party to swallow the pride and embrace intra-party democracy.
