UTm finally registered as new party in Malawi

After battling and tussling, the registrar of political parties in Malawi has finally registered UTM as a political party.
In a letter written to lawyers representing UTM, Ritz Attorneys-at-Law and addressed to one of the legal firm’s partner Lusungu Gondwe, the Registrar of Political Parties Deputy Registrar Chikumbutso Namelo has confirmed the registration.
“Please find enclosed herewith the registration certificate of UTM Party in accordance with the court Order made by Justice M Chirwa on 2nd November 2018,” reads the letter.
According to the registration certificate, UTM was registered on 21st September 2018.
The UTM leader Saulos Chilima, who is the country’s Vice-President, warned his followers that they would face turbulence, but asked them to be prepared and be assured of successful landing, come the polls.

Chilima, who broke ranks with the governing Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) to form the UTM, said they will fight the appeal.

“Do not be intimidated, we fought for this democracy; we fought to be free, if they decide to appeal, we will fight them there. Don’t waste time with trivia or garbage,” said Chilima.

He said Malawians fought for democratic rule in 1992, and went for the referendum in 1993, before the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) was kicked out in the first general elections in 1994.

The registration of UTM will certainly stir up Malawi politics. It will so interesting that even those who ordinarily are passive will be glued to the radio of TV. Newspapers will sell and so will party regalia. DPP will have to really work for a win and even if they do win; it won’t be plain sailing in parliament. DPP MPS will be forced to read documents, bills etc and will have to be wise awake to be relevant. UTM will usher in new politics whether they win next year or not.

Bravo UTM moto kuti buuuuuuu! There is nothing wrong with registering using abbreviation. NBS bank did the same it is registered as NBS and not New Building Society.

UTM congrats for the registration but be strategic don’t be fooled that u can win it alone, come up with a workable alliance. This 2019 election is all abt kicking the thieves (DPP)out then next election 2024 when DPP is dead and buried its when opposition can split out and battle it alone. It doesn’t take a genius its all abt deals. Divided you fall.

You have read my mind brother, how I wish opposition could combine and kick thievses out of power together with their prince of thieves.
