Veteran politician Harry Chiume dies, burial Friday in Blantyre
One of Malawi’s renowned veteran politicians and lawyer Harry Chiume has died.
Spokesperson for Chiume’s disbanded NUP, Hockings Munyenyembe confirmed the death, saying the bereaved family is currently planning for burial arrangement tentatively slated for Friday at HHI cemetery in Blantyre
Chiume has died last night at the Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre after suffering from blood circulation failure.
Recently, Chiume announced that he would work with his former party, Aford.
Chiume will be credited as one of the pro-democracy activists who worked closely with late Chakufwa Chihana in championing plural politics in the country.
He was a lawyer by training and a university lecture.
