Wailing Brothers start Trust Fund

The Wailing Brothers Band says it has launched a Trust Fund – the ‘Wailing Brothers Trust Fund’ whose aim is to contribute towards the advancement of arts in the country.

The Band’s media relations manager, Chigomezgo Gondwe, told Nyasa Times this week that there is “little” that is being done as regards the development of arts in the country.

Gondwe said unlike other bands, The Wailing Brothers Band, is not centred on any regionalist tenets.

She said the mission the Band has is a “national one.”

According to Gondwe, the Trust Fund will see to it that all “deserving” talented Malawian musicians are well supported.

She said there is going to be a “committee” to make sure that the Fund reaches out to deserving artists.

Band leader Takudziwani Chokani said that the Band was a legacy.

“We’re a history. We want to assist you Malawians just like most Malawians in one way or another have supported us throughout our career,” said Taku.
