Wanderers to recruit assistant coach: Technical panel reoganisation

Mighty Be Forward Wanderers have disclosed that they will recruit a coach to become assistant to head coach Elia Kananji within the week in a mini technical panel shake-up.

Wanderers General Secretary Mike Butao said the current set up still gives Technical Director the clout that he is head coach reducing Kananji to more of an assistant coach.

Butao said following the recruitment of a new coach Technical Director Yasin Osman would cease to be the bench during games.

“We are going to employ an assistant coach to Elia Kananji very soon. He will be assisting him in coach the team because the set up may give the impression that Kananji is assistant coach to Yasin Osman which is not the case,” he said.

“I am sure that the coming in of an assistant coach would help Kananji and the rest of the technical panel to come up with a strong squad.”

He also said youth teams director Edington Ng’onamo would be redeployed to his core responsibility of working with junior teams.

In a related development, Butao disclosed that the team would also alternate team managers Steve Madeira and Chiyembekezo Zidana to serve the team during games.

Wanderers have started the campaign on a good note having collected seven points from three games.

They beat Epac 3-1, forced to a two-all draw against Azam Tigers and recovered to narrowly beat Surestream Academy 1-0.

  2. Phodogoma you might be right but how much can Malawi teams pay these guys compared to what they earn there?

  3. Please think of these Malawian guys from south africa like John Maduka, Ernest Mtawali and Patrick General Mabedi. These guys are good and they can bring a difference in our soccer circle . We are tired of the recycled coaches who are doing nothing by the end of the day..
