Wanderers wants new record at newly-built Karonga Stadium

Title favourities Mighty Be Forward Wanderers will be seeking to extend the lead at the summit of the TNM Super League as they date relegation strugglers Chitipa United in a crucial and historical TNM Super League encounter slatted for Karonga Stadium on Saturday.

Nomads players having a feel at Karonga Stadium

The Nomads arrived in Karonga on Thursday amid protest against the decision by league administrators Super League of Malawi (Sulom) in staging the match in Karonga.

The Lali Lubani Road boys  demanded that the match be played at Mzuzu Stadium, a venue
Chitipa has been using as their home ground since the 2017 soccer season commenced in May this year.

Wanderers Team Manager confirmed in a telephone interview that the team has indeed arrived in the Northern District of Karonga and that they are geared for the game.

“Yes we are in Karonga, the boys had a feel of the pitch on Friday and recommended that it is in good shape. We therefore urge all our fans to come in large numbers on Saturday to cheer and give their team the match needed support” said Madeira.

“We know that it will not be an easy ride and we are already aware that we are going to sweat to get a positive result but we are prepared and ready for the showdown” added Madeira.

On his part, Chitipa United Team Manager Marshall Mwenechanya also said his troops are equally ready for the battle.

“We are more than ready for the game and it will be a great experience for us to finally play at home” said Mwenechanya.

Meanwhile, Administrators of the elite league Super League of Malawi (Sulom) have announced that tickets for the match will be sold at different rates depending on the time of purchase.

“Tickets bought between 9am and 12 noon will be purchased at K1,000 for open stands and K3,000 for covered stands while all tickets purchased after 12 noon will be purchased at K2,000 for open Stands and K5,000 for covered stands” said Sulom General Secretary Williams Banda.

Banda therefore called upon all supporters, players and officials from both clubs to maintain discipline and observe fair play to ensure there will be the much needed peace and security for everyone.
