The incident happened at Maselema in Limbe on Saturday and the deceased has since been identified as Sub-Inspector Mabutawo while the cop hospitalized at Blantyre Adventist Hospital is Constable Phiri.

The law officers also managed to kill one member of the thugs, whose details are still sketchy.

The criminals, using a Nissan Tilda KK4305 gold in colour and armed with a rifle, attacked the police officer who were on money escort from Limbe town to Maselema.

The money belonged to OG Plastic Industries.

“One officer Sub-Inspector Mabutawo has indeed been shot dead while the officer, Constable Phiri was rushed to the hospital after being injured.

“And one member of the criminals was also shot dead and we are yet to establish his details,” Southern Region Police publicist Ramsey Mushani.

However, Mushani could not confirm the figure believed to have stolen, saying “we can only confirm after talking to the company. At the moment have not established.”

He also said they will do everything possible to apprehend the criminals.

Where do the crooks get their guns from? It seems firearms are more readily available these days. The police should be issued with protective clothing (helmets, bulletproof vests, etc. ) when carrying out potentially dangerous duties.

Due to an increase in incidents of police officers being murdered by thugs the RSA government has implemented a law against those officers who fail to comply with safety risk management by wearing bullet proof vests. Apparently there is a fine of up to R5000 if I’m not mistaken. I
Would like to suggest that our authorities do the same to save these innocent lives
It’s a pity that human race always require some body to protect their own lives

My Malawi!

mulamu pelekani@gmail.com

The goodness of America if one kills a policeman that person is going to electric chair. NO mess. Why police is the poctection of people. But sad they kill blacks. In Malawi we are blacks all.

mulamu pelekani@gmail.com

From the picture of a dead police it looks like the man is in well dressed. Is this the way the dress? Why was the police escouting money when it is don by uniformed para miltary who have guns? And why escouting money as civil person?

mulamu pelekani@gmail.com

This is inside job. It can be the police tipped the thugs. How did they know time and when money was going to be transported? They have to check with workers in the company also who authorized the police and who are they. Employing only Alhlomwes as APM to police is not protecting Malawians. Whe inside jb go wrong they get shoot. Look at Mpwiyo it went wrong he got shot. He is not a victim. But a suspect.
