Watch out! Mutharika is suicide bomber ready to blow himself off with DPP

If Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) members don’t know, their agile leader, Peter Mutharika, is now a political suicide bomber poised to blow himself and the party off.

Mutharika: But for how long will he frustrate DPP future?

Look here, since he fell from grace and found comfort in Mangochi, Mutharika has been making questionable and silly decisions that, in all intents and purposes, are hammering DPP on its knees.

DPP, where is stands now, needs to rebrand—it has to shed off its old skin and put on a fresh one that would, easily, resonate with the demands of Malawians.

Unfortunately, Mutharika has been quite good at coming up with decisions that militates every effort of rebranding the party.

It was a shock of the century, for instance, to note that Mutharika resurrected a political zombie, Brown Mpinganjira, to be the face of DPP today.

Mpinganjira was politically rejected long time ago and, over the years, he has been hoping from one party to prophets and back—searching for survival.

To imagine that, in this age of Saulos Chilima, one would resurrect Mpinganjira and make him the face of a party that needs rebranding is quite a historical joke.

Not only that.

The party needs new and young faces to connect with demands of the modern electorates.

DPP has fresh faces in energetic politicians within its ranks and file and those sympathisers not on the frontline politics ready to step up and lead.

It’s pathetic that, from his bomb-manufacturing hollow in Nyekhwe Palace in Mangochi – or does his retirement home have another name – he is busy making decisions to frustrate these youthful and energetic politicians who have progressive ideas to lead the party into new heights.

The classic case, of course, is the games Mutharika is playing with Nankhumwa.

For all his flaws, Nankhumwa is humble, meek and can easily connect with every Malawian. He is the face that Mutharika must be promoting to lead the party.

Unfortunately, Mutharika has sworn to do anything to destroy Nankhumwa and keep him far from the party’s leadership. All Mutharika needs are faces of the same old guards who have done everything to bring DPP to its knees.

But for how long will Mutharika frustrate DPP future?

As reasoned already, he is, officially, a political suicide bomber who wants to blow himself together with the party. It’s up to progressive minds in the party to stand before he hits the red button.

Nankhumwa is to blame in all these scenarios….. the new DPP will be there minus Nankhumwa.

After all him being vice president for South he contributed in killing the party.

Nankhukwa ndi ndani kuti azinyoza APM… mukuona Ngati akhala chani minus DPP… akawafunse akweni.

APM is the party president and the other guys have taken advantage of the fact that he is no longer the president of Malawi and they cannot listen to him. It is now clear that the NGC of ddp has been overtaken by its MPs. The party hierarchy is not known. Who is second in command to APM? Is it Uladi Mussa? Is it Bright Msaka? Is it Goodall Gondwe? Is it George Malemia? This is where the confusion comes from. This is a party that has no code of conduct and no succession plan. The problem with dpp is… Read more »

I don’t support DPP but I think the history would help Malawians, MCP was in opposition because of the same as what is happening in DPP (old faces) John Tembo and the friends, they tried their best but they failed, it took some corner men to stand against the old faces and bring them down, the Chakwera and the friends and here they are, so I agree with you Fiko. With the age limit we are coming with, I think none of the mentioned people we have will get it! Because if Chakwera by his 70, is within the first… Read more »

JZU is the one who saved the party from Gwanda Chakuwamba. With Gwanda the party was losing the support of its stronghold and he identified a good replacement to succeed him. After all MCP is not a family party and the party had an agenda from inception in 1945. Did udf and dpp have an agenda apart from stealing from us or our taxes. Let dpp go back to the drawing table otherwise it will just be a party in the files.

John Tembo never saved the MCP from Gwanda. He got the MCP leadership from Gwanda only to sell its soul to Bakili for the third/open terms JZU was honoured with MCP clothes emblazoned with his JZU Tembo face. Bakili broke MCP into two pieces so these MCP giants went for crumbs. Sorry Mr Tembo never gave his all to the party JZU was a tribal mafia who always thought the MCP belonged to the Central Region under him we saw the Republican Party faring well with sixteen parliamentary seats under the sleeve of Gwanda

Maybe you don’t understand politics, Nankhumwa is the one who is very dangerous here. You give an exqmple of Chilima, when Chilima saw that he can’t work with madala, he went on to start his own party. If you feel Muthalika is bad, let this Nankhumwa of yours start his own ground.

By the way i don’t support any party.

Chilima did not leave DPP he was forced out because it was mentioned that he would become the best leader. Mutharika was just so arrogant even now that the people love him and that only he can help the country to riches. Seen it all before just like Mugabe not knowing when to retire. It is right to call for a convention after the President lost just so there is enough time to rebuild the party before the next election. Thats just politics.

Yes the man is humble and meek but if those are the qualities you believe are what the nation needs to develop, then Malawi is indeed cursed. Wasn’t Bakili humble and able to connect to the masses?. These people just need a convention to sort out their issues and hopefully whichever person they choose is indeed a doer. Now why do I say this?. with 50 plus 1. only alliances will rule which means for the good of the country it’s vital that all parties have change driven leadership.

But again, with alliances what is the succession plan. There in lies the problem. Even to start talking about it, you are branded a rebel. We have a nation problem when it comes to succession.

APM is a typical psychopath who seems to have an appetite for what is bad for DPP and rejecting what is good for the party. He needs Jesus in his life.
