Wife mastermind plot for hubby’s mob justice, killed

A 25 year old man was beaten by angry mob and later died whilst receiving medication at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital after his wife called him a criminal and shouted for help from other people.

According to Blantyre Police Station Public Relations Officer, Sergeant Lameck Thembachako, the deceased, Gift Singano died on June 11, 2013 after being assaulted by angry Sigerege residents on suspicion that he was a criminal in his own house.

According to the recorded statement from the sister to Gift Singano; Mary Singano aged 30; told Sigerege police unit that her brother (Gift Singano) legally married Fyness Singano nee Chimwala aged 27 from Zigula village, Traditional authority Kuntaja in Blantyre and they were staying together as wife and husband at the wife’s parents plot in Sigerege Township.

Mary told the police that it was during the night of June 6 – 7, 2013; Gift Singano was at his house as usual but unfortunately he had a quarrel with his wife for their own reasons.

Following the disagreements; Gift Singano decided to remove window and door frames from the house. In the process of removing the mentioned items; the wife shouted for help as if she had been attacked and assaulted by criminal(s).

“Angry residents rushed to rescue the wife and they left the suspect (husband) in critical condition. Gift Singano sustained bruises on the forehead, face and serious head injuries,” said Mary.

Singano was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital where he was admitted in intensive care unit in Ward 54. He was put at life supporting machine till his death.

Following police investigations; Fyness Chimwala and her brother Samson Banda aged 21 were arrested for interviews.

The deceased aged 25 hailed from Gwadani village, Traditional authority Kunthembwe in Blantyre district.
