Wizards hold Bullets at the death: Malawi TNM Super League

Nyasa Big Bullets were denied victory in the TNM Super League as they were held to a 1-1 draw against Wizards FC at Kalulu Stadium in Nchalo on Sunday.

Peter Mponda: Befiting results

The Peoples Team looked to be heading to three points and top spot on the table as they led 1-0 in first half through Dave Banda, only for Misheck Bottomani to equalize for the visitors.

The result left Bullets with 12 points same as Be Forward Wanderers, who are topping the standings despite not involved in any games this weekend.

The Nomads have a better goal difference comparing with all the four teams Red Lions, Azam Tigers, Bullets and Wizards who have also 12 points.

The Peoples Team kicked off the game on a positive note as they made the breakthrough after just seven minutes after Mike Nkwate found space out wide before putting the ball into the box, where Bright Munthali ran in unmarked between two defenders before shooting wide.

The pint sized midfielder was proving the liveliest outlet for Bullets in the first-half and did well to hold up play in the box before laying off for Dave Banda , but a rush of blood to the head saw the attacker blaze his shot miles over the bar.

Wizards finally got their first shot on target after 15 minutes as Nikiza Imable rose well in the area to win his header, but it lacked any significant power and Rabson Chiyenda eventually made a comfortable save.

Bullets almost found a way back three minutes into the second half as a superb delivery into the area from a free-kick left Wizards scrambling, with Amadu Makawa eventually colliding heavily with Kangunje , although Wizards eventually managed to clear their lines.

Then Wizards had a golden chance to make it 2-1with around 20 minutes remaining as the ball was played over the top before falling kindly for Anzeu Joseph right in front of goal, but the forward got his attempt all wrong and ended up swiping at fresh air to allow Bullets defence to clear.

Bullets threatened to wrap the game up with six minutes remaining as Benard Chimayimba broke down the wing in a swift forcing a decent move to come to nought after the flag was raised for off-side.

Davie Banda scored for Bullets whereas Mischeck Bottoman equalized for Wizards.
