Youthful MP Jere eyes deputy Speaker position of Malawi Parliament

The newly elected 35-year-old Mzimba South Constituency Member of Parliament Emmanuel Jere has expressed interest to contest for second deputy speaker of Malawi Parliament.

Jere: Wants to strike such a refreshing political position in the House
Speaking to Nyasa Times, Jere said he wants to vie for position because the power of youth is the common wealth for the entire country and the world at large.
“As a youthful Member of Parliament, I want to leave a legacy and represent the youth. I want to inspire the younger generation and be part of change so that Malawians appreciates the leading role of the youth in parliament,” Jere explained.
He added: “The faces of young people are the faces of our past, our present and our future. No segment in the society can match with the power, idealism, enthusiasm and courage of the young people who can build Malawi. However, it’s not about being youthful second deputy speaker only but your competency on the job.”
The first-time youthful MP  who won as an Independent Candidate with a majority vote approximately 15,000, said his stunning victory is a reflective of his growing popularity in the constituency.
He was quick to point out that he puts Mzimba South people first and politics second, describing his manifesto as his developmental focused.
Jere, an experienced Financial Analyst has worked with Blue Financial Services (Malawi) Limited as Payment Channels Manager and later joined Ministry of Finance and Economic Development -Financial Compliance Unit as a Financial Compliance Officer.
With his experience in financial industry , Jere looks as one of the candidates who can fill higher offices to save Malawi.
Jere describes himself as a result oriented person said he believes in ability to achieve targets within the shortest timeframe possible.
He said he sees young people as gold of this nation and he want to empower them in many development projects in his constituency and the country at large.
Jere was educated in Malawi up to his Bachelors level and later studied his Masters degree in Finance and Marketing in India, has attended several management courses and workshops.

  2. Wow! Great to hear Mr. Emmanuel Jere! In all epochs of human history it is youth like you who have changed nations. Talk of Jesus, talk of Napolean, talk of Obama, talk of … you name it, it is the youth who move things of forward. Don’t let the love of money (and in Malawi politics, the temptation is plenty) misdirect you.

    Don’t fear faces of men. Don’t listen to those who thrive on judging others based on the language of their tongues or the accident of surname or tribe or region or nation or continent. All these “accidents” have nothing to do with your abilities and destiny. The passion you have will enable you rub shoulders with queens and kings.

    This is God’s world and it is him who causes our hearts to yearn and desire. He directs our hearts just like he shapes the courses of rivers and ravines. He is the one who makes the way and shines his light on the paths of those who earnestly seek and trust him. The content of your character as shaped by the Almighty is what counts in this world – not the looks of your countenance or the rythym of your name or surname or voices of your haters.

    Please, feel encouraged and energized by the fact that God will honor the desires of your heart. Even if it does not work out this time round, trust me, God knows what you desire and he will give you more than you aspire to achieve – at his own time. I wish you well as you take a step of faith to appropriate what God has put on your heart.

    For the past twenty years this has been my motto: “‘Building’ Boys and Girls is Better than ‘Mending’ Men and Women.” Malawi will not rise until her youth begin to own the country as their own. This is your country and each place your foot steps God has already apportioned it to you.

  5. You can even be president. Dont be a sellout. You will pay a heavy price like udf. Remain independent because the people of mzimba have elected you such.
    Dont rush to join any party. Dont do that. Be principled. You have good school papers. You will notice kuti kuli mbuli zambiri ku ndale. Be smart. God first.
