Dwangwa Town Hammers were the first to ask questions a minute into the game when Kenley Kaziputa’s goal was ruled out for off side.

Likewise, Zolozolo United’s goal by Smith Kadawasi in the 11th minute was ruled out for off side by referee Waneck Mlenga from Zomba.

Zikani Sichinga and Smith Kadawasi had a brilliant exchange of passes in the 29th minute but Kadawasi’s powerful shot was well saved by goal keeper Zinenani Banda for Dwangwa Town Hammers.

It was in the 33rd minute when Zikani Sichinga received a through ball. His first shot was blocked by the Dwangwa keeper but his second quick attempt ended into the net. It was still 1-0 to Zolozolo United at half time.

The second half produced no goals as Kadawasi’s shot in the 70th minute missed the target with a whisker.

Captain for Dwangwa Town Hammers, Solomon Banda, was given marching orders 15 minutes before the end of the game for a second bookable offence.

It ended in favour of Zolozolo United.

Speaking to Nyasa Times after the game, coach for Dwangwa Town Hammers, Kelvin Macheso admitted that it was a tough game against Zozolo United. He added that his players played well only that it was not their day.

“I thank FISD for coming up with this tournament. I hope it will come again next year and we hope to do better then,” he concluded.

On his part, Zolozolo United coach, Oscar Kaunda (formerly of Civo United), said his charges did not perform well but it was good that they had won the game.

“We will prepare well for the quarter final game and we hope to sail through to the next stage,” added Kaunda.

This then means that Zolozolo United will face winner between Lake Valley Football Club and Mighty Be Forward Wanderers who are set meet in the round of sixteen on Wednesday, 26th October, 2016 at Civo Stadium.
