Airtel Malawi launched the netball sponsorship in 2013 to cater for the national league and Malawi Queens.

Airtel Malawi Public Relations Officer (PRO) Idith Tsirizani said the company felt duty bound to continue bankrolling the sport because it is the only discipline that has brought pride and everlasting smiles on every Malawian through its successes.

Malawi netball is ranked number one in Africa and fifth in the World.

“Netball is probably the only sport that has not disappointed Malawians as a country we have excelled a lot on the world map, so we feel great to be associated with a winning sport,” said Tsilizani.

She said besides that, the sport acts as a podium for pumping in confidence in the girls and it had proved before that with the competition’s proceeds, many have excelled in both the sport and education and they effectively contribute to the social economic development of the country.

Complex Tigresses are the defending champions while Mimosa Queens won it in the Northern Region and Young sisters grabbed it in Mzuzu city.
