Incumbent FAM president Walter Nyamilandu, who is seeking a fourth term, remains the firm favourite for the role as he has backing from most of affiliates who are the voters.

He however faces resistance from the football fraternity not to elongate his stay at FAM and allow new brooms.

Nyamilandu, was nominated by Southern Region Football Association (SRFA), Central Region Football Association (CRFA), Northern Region Football Association (NRFA), Coaches Association of Malawi, Beach Soccer Malawi, Womens Football Committee and Coaches Association of Malawi whilst Yabwanya Phiri was nominated by the National Referees Committee (NRC).

Also challenging Nyamilandu is Willy Yabwanya Phiri —Karonga United owner —who was nominated by National Football Referees Committee (NFRC).

Yabwanya Phiri says: “I am the change that Malawians want.”

According to FAM, 36 votes from the affiliates will determine results.

James Mwenda, who is an executive member, was nominated for the position of first-vice president whereas Othaniel Hara, who is also an executive committee member, was nominated for the post of second-vice president.

Daud Ntanthiko was nominated for executive committee member position.

Of all the candidates on display I still go for Walter Nyamilandu regardless of him overstaying or not. Unless we want to turn FAM into a laughing stock of organisations then go for those candidates competing against him.

Not that I hate Nyamilandu but I believe in change. Whatever change, change has two good purposes. It either brings progress if it iss a good change or bring good lessons to progress if it is a bad change. Its either cowards or beneficiaries who fear change .A certain Research has shown that 99% of changes bring progress if properly handled even if a bad change can bring a progress through lessons learnt from bad change .So,let Nyamilandu go though I like the guy.
