Announcing the sponsorship, TNM’s Head of Marketing Webster Mbekeani said as a Malawian company, TNM felt duty bound to be part of the ground breaking sporting event that seeks not only to uplift the lives of the less privileged in society by also to market the country to the outside world.

“It is exciting to note that Mizu Foundation targets at growing the Triathlon to a level where it attracts international athletes. This will help sell Malawi’s tourism to the outside world,” said Mbekeani.

Speaking earlier, founder of Mizu Foundation, Jam Kaunda said they will be engaging local and foreign athletes while raising money for a charity activity of their choice.

“And in the years to come, we will be aggressive in pushing for international athletes to come and compete while enjoying the beauty that is Lake Malawi. We want to make this an annual event,” said Kaunda.

He said the Triathlon promises to offer athletes and families a chance to enjoy the spectacular sun-kissed beaches, a warm sub-tropical climate as well as the friendly warm heart of the locals.

Kaunda said the 0.7km swim along the shores, followed by an undulating 18km cycle through the hills of the Lake Malawi National Park, and the 4.5km run through the village and the park, is sure to provide some excitement to the participants.

The Triathlon starts from 18 to 20th September and will include activities like pre- fancy dress party, main Triathlon, kayak/ Canoe Race, football tournament, beach volleyball tournament, main party by the golden sands, kids mini triathlon/fun run and sun downers on a boat.

Mizu Foundation has partnered ministries of Sports & Culture and Information, Tourism & Civic Education in the organization of the September event.

Proceeds from the event will go towards a number of charitable causes. TNM is the lead sponsor of the event. For more details plus registration to participate log on to:capemacleartriathlon.com/
