Mutharika leaves for UNGA: Malawi leader will be second to deliver speech
President Peter Mutharika and First Lady Gertrude Mutharika Friday left for New York, United States, where they are expected to attend the 73rd United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) from Tuesday September 25, 2018 where he is expected to deliver his statement in the afternoon.

According to State House press team which has arrived in New York as part of advance party, the Malawi leader will be the second world leader to deliver a statement after the official opening of the General Debate of the 73rd UNGA on September 25.
Mutharika will speak after Guatemala and followed by Egypt.
This year’s debate is under the theme: ‘Making the United Nations Relevant to All People: Global Leadership and Shared Responsibilities for Peaceful, Equitable and Sustainable Societies.”
Mutharika left Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) and said the UNGA gives Malawi delegation an opportunity to engage and re-engage with other key international partners on socio-economic and developmental issues.
Speaking to journalists before boarding the plane, Mutharika said he will co-host and participate in a number of high level meetings and side events during the assembly which include meeting on global peace in honour of the centenary of the birth of South Africa’s first black president Nelson Mandela; the UN private sector forum; launch of the young people’s agenda; and He or She impact summit.
Mutharika will also speak on Malawi’s initiatives in reducing new Tuberculosis infections; expected to deliver a statement at the high level panel on migration and structural transformation in Africa; another statement on what Malawi has done in ending child marriages at the African Heads of State and Government roundtable discussion; and will also give insights of the initiatives Malawi is making in sensitizing the masses of the effects of Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs).
The First Lady will also take part in several side event meetings.
Several dignitaries including Finance Minister Goodall Gondwe, ambassadors and high commissioners, Cabinet ministers, governing Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and government officials saw Mutharika off.
Five ministers and a deputy minister will form part of Mutharika’s delegation. These include Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation minister Emmanuel Fabiano, Minister of Gender, Children Disability and Social Welfare Jean Kalilani, Minister of Labour Youth, Sports and Manpower Development Francis Kasaila, Minister of Health and Population AtupeleMuluzi, Minster of Home Affairs and Internal Security Cecilia Chazama and deputy minister of Defence Everton Chimulirenji.
The annual general debate, where world leaders take turns to air their views on the proposed theme will run for nine days, under the presidency of Ms Maria Fernanda Espinosa Garce, a national of Ecuador, who was elected in July this year.
The session is expected to end on October 5 2018.

No doubt the UN delegates will be waiting with baited breath to hear what the President of one of the poorest countries in the world has to say. He has run his country Malawi into the ground with his maladministration. He has absolutely nothing to say worth hearing on the subject of development. Most delegates will never have heard of him and will be busy with their smart phones during his address. APM is totally absorbed with his own self-image and importance and doesn’t grasp the truth of the matter – that he is in fact a nobody on the world stage.
This is the time of the year this man goes to fulfill USA Green Card requirements. He has to prepare for the unceremonious exit next year. Any M’tchona would do that.
People will have bad nights if they keep thinking about what APM will say in his speech. It’s not worthy thinking about, really
A Goodall nanu uchitsilu, mpakana kufuna kugwada zomwezi.
Awo akumva kuwawa ine ndikumva kukoma ku BOMA ILOOOOOOOOOOO! Inu pitilizani kuphwanyana ma primary, UTM kuti izafike pa Shire shaaaaa munya muona.
As UN, they are supposed bar APM due to rampant corruption, nepotism, impunity, and list goes on. He has crossed all the limits in demonstrating as an authoterian leader. As world body they supposed to raise concerns on the general outcry from mass public n daily looting of public resources, and not give podium to someone who deserves to face international criminal courts for gross negligence on poor peoples lives. Leaders who neglects thier people, and let’s them suffer for basic human needs or let people die coz lack of basic common medicines or due to unavailability of fuel to run gensets or ambulances, are equally guilty to face the rule of law as any other leaders who are responsible for killing their poor people with arms and brute force as witnessed in othe nations. And this, my fellow malawians, any constitutional dictionary, equates to gross negligence by a head of state, and any common citizen can lodge a case to ICC or SADC, COMESA, coz of course, our judicial system is again heavily compromised under the dynamic leadership of APM, portraying as Mafia Govt leader. Someone please rescue us poor malawians from this mafia lea der of ours. It’s our dire distress call to the world. Call for referendum, call for national boycott, call the spiritual leaders, whatever, but please help us. 🙏😔😣😧🙏
Who listens to such an idiot dreamer in the UN anyway?

Start the discussion…Akayankhulako chani Petulo?
Total waste of our monies as there is nothing he is going to achieve…. it’s mere appeasing trip and to bribe the entourage of chiefs taken with. And of course honeymoon for the likes of chisale, mukhito, etc.. when are we going to change our outdated constitution, as APM has become untouchable. Time is now to get these thieves out coz if we wait for next year’s polls, they gonna rig it again and remain untouchable for another torturing and tormenting 5 years. And all we gonna do is watch and winge. Seems we Malawians are used to being ruled by thieves and we are okay about it. We don’t want to change, not for ourselves nor for our kids n future generations. Our not active and ignorance approach is going to cost heavy to our future generations and kids. I think we are to blame ourselves. This blue executive thief has already noticed that we Malawians are mere talkers and cowards hence he is riding all over us and taking us for granted.
You know very well how Peter got to his position. A revolution starts with you……so register to vote and vote wisely and whilst at it convince you family, friends, colleagues and their friends to do likewise.
It only Malawians who are not appreciative to their leader but the world does that, how can “UN” offer a platform to someone who is incompetent?
UNGA gives platform to everybody who is leading a country, whether he is good or bad, the fact is Petrol has failed, he has nothing to offer to Malawi apart from stealing our taxes, promoting nepotism, tribalism, and incompetency at the in the country. He is the worst leader Malawi has ever had and probably will ever have God knows.
you must be part of the blue termites….. praising someone who has nothing at heart for Malawi and it’s citizens. And UN and bilateral donors are supposed bar APM due to rampant corruption, nepotism, impunity, and list goes on. He has crossed all the limits in demonstrating as authoterian leader. As world body they supposed to raise concerns on the outcry from mass public n daily looting of public resources. Which part are donors not catching here. And Not give podium to someone who deserves to face international criminal courts for gross negligence on poor peoples lives. Leaders who neglects his people, and let’s them suffer for basic human needs and let people die coz lack of basic common medicines or due to unavailability of fuel to run gensets or ambulances, AND this, my fellow malawians, in any constitutional dictionary, equates to gross negligence by a head of state, and any common citizen can the cases to ICC or SADC, COMESA, coz our judicial system is again heavily compromised under the dynamic leadership of APM.
Go smoke some pot…… maybe then you will talk some sense n realize what you just said. 😂😂😂😂😂
Shame
Wishing you all the best our beloved President.
Iweso chamba tu. Beloved from which angel😠😠😠😠😠😠which or what love does he have for poor malawians, who entrusted him on the benefits of doubt in May 2014. Is this how one repays backs or appreciates his citizens by totally ignoring us. Not once has he even show a slightest will to address even 1% of the hundreds of pressing and desperate issues, that are have really messed up this country and the civil system.
All he can think of is traveling despite the country’s troubles. Pathetic.
THE MALAWI NATION IS

Total waste of poor nations money. Does he really need to be going there every year? What does it benefit Malawi other than NTCHONA himself. Selfish and thick. Btw, did kamuzu visit the UN every year?
APM my choice you are one of the much rooted LEADER in fact I personally do admire your characters— you are not shaken by these so Called FINYE guys CSO’s whatever they are called they think they are clever but they have proved to be best failures & fools. They thought you can bow down to their demands yes a LEADER must be strong and full of boldness,, anyway I write to wish you a nice safe journey to UNGA and may GOD bless you and the MOTHER Malawi.
