Pilot abandons Malawian Airline passengers in Lilongwe

Malawian Airline passengers who had travelled from Chileka Airport on their way to Lusaka through Kamuzu International Airport in Lilongwe on Saturday were in for a shock when their pilot abandoned them in the Capital City.

Passengers of Malawian Airlines

As usual, airline officials were not forthcoming with information which caused the undue delay of the plane to take off at Kamuzu International Airport.

They disembarked from the plane to find out from the information desk at the airport just to learn that the pilot who flew them from Chileka was too tired to continue with his journey to Lusaka and other destinations.

The officers at the information desk said the airline was waiting for another pilot who was in the city.

However, the other pilot took hours to arrive.

This follows sudden cancellations of flights, at least three in just less than two weeks as cabin crew is protesting over low salaries and poor working conditions.

  1. No surprise here, even the President abandoned Malawi and his senses a long time ago, everything is on autopilot.

  2. It’s normal for pilot to abandon a flight cuz of fatigue…. it’s advisable for a pilot not to fly if he is fatigue, I don’t know why we making a big deal out of this and calling our pride a joke

  3. Palibe pulobulemu, all under the dynamic leadership of Mr Maliseche! ……..ndiye bola bus or matola ndithu!

    1. Well, it appears she was on a mission. In any case, KQ (Kenya Airways) is not as reliable and the best either. I have had delay and cancellation experiences with KQ. I know we have a myriad of problems in this country, but I think everyone is taking us for a joke right now. It’s time those with authority (at all levels, govt and private sectors) thought seriously about how to improve standards in this country.

  4. Osangozisiya bwanji ngati zavuta. Flying people when you are not happy is risking passengers. Malawi is urgently in need of a leader not this old castrated bull. Let us think about our children. We are digging an early grave for our Children. All public services such as health, education, agriculture are not there anymore. When we learnt that FAM president has won another term, one can tell Malawi is now a failed state. Let us plan for a revoularion for the sake of our children because us the old ones at least we enjoyed political hygiene during Kamuzu days.

  5. Minister of Transport get to work and fire these pilot idiots and cancel the agreement with Ethiopian. It worse by the day and you do nothing. Get on with it!
