Malawian man arrested for gay rape on schoolboy
Malawi Police are keeping in custody a 30 year old man on allegations that he indecently assaulted a person of the same sex who happens to be a standard three boy aged nine in the central region district of Nkhotakota.
Nkhotakota Police spokesman, Sergeant Kaitano Lubrino, the report says t the incident occurred on July 9, 2012 at around 9: 00 am at Katunda Village in area of Traditional Authority (TA) Malengachanzi.
The suspect is identified as Saidi Mussa from Tambala Village, TA Malengachanzi in the district.
“On this particular day, the nine year old boy was sent by his parents to sell cooked sweet potatoes at Magubwe Fishing Dock where he also exchanges the potatoes with fish apart from selling by cash. Whilst there, the suspect came and took potatoes worth K25 and coaxed the victim to his house to give him the money for the potatoes.
“There, the suspect whose marriage broke up sometime back had carnal knowledge with the standard three learner unlawfully and gave him K5 to buy sweets as ‘a mouth close-up’ so that he should not disclose anything that had transpired in the house to anyone,” he said.
Lubrino said the boy never reported the matter to his parents when he returned home but the matter was unearthed after his parents found him with shortage of money as well as after the parents spotted semen on the back side of his short.
“The parents then confronted him with a barrage of questions to explain more and that is when he revealed that he had been indecently assaulted by the suspect. The parents then never hesitated but reporting the matter to their village head who liaised with community policing members and arrested the suspect,” Lubrino said.
He was charged with indecent assault on boys, contrary to section 155 of Penal Code.
Lubrino said the suspect, who has admitted to the charges at the police station, is expected to appear before Nkhotakota Magistrate Court to answer charges laid against him once the police station concludes their investigations.
The victim who hails from Chimnandi Village, TA Malengachanzi in Nkhotakota is a pupil at Dziko ndi Lonse Junior Primary School in the district.
