Nomads’ fans bay for coach’s blood after loss to BT Utd
A section of Mighty Wanderers fans on Sunday bayed for Franco Ndawa’s head after their third consecutive loss in the TNM Super League, when they went down to unpredictable Blantyre United.
The Nomads suffered Super League defeats to Civo United (3-2) and Kamuzu Barracks (1-0) in Lilongwe before Blantyre United inflicted pain to them 3-2 on Sunday.
A section of the disgruntled fans were overheard baying for Ndawa’s blood after the defeat as they chanted: “tatopa ndi kuluza, coach achoke! (we are fed up with losses, the coach should be fired!)”
Awful Wanderers
The Lali-Lubani Boys, who missed the services of their workhorse Joseph ‘Shakira’ Kamwendo, were awful in their performance with poor passes and failing to coordinate in all the departments.
Wanderers coach, Franco Ndawa, left the Nomads fans with a lot of questions than answers, as he deployed their natural left back, Francis Mlimbika on the midfield.
Mlimbika struggle to adapt his new role leaving Blantyre United to dominate on the middle of the park where he was operating alongside Alfred Manyozo and Nafe Msasa.
Another questionable decision which the Nomads fans quizzed Ndawa was leaving natural strikers like of Anthony Banda and Gomegzani Gondwe on the bench by favouring Victor Mpinganjira, who is a right winger to operate as a striker.
Blantyre United‘s Dalitso Sailesi, who was also voted man of the match, notched a brace
before Tizyowere nailed the last nail on the Nomads head.
As the two sides were going on recess, it was 3-0 in favour of Blantyre United.
Come second half, Ndawa realized that his tactics did not work in the first 45 minutes and took back Mlimbika to his usual left back position.
The Nomads mentor also introduced Anthony Banda, Gomegzani Gondwe and Gerald Chimbaka, who changed the tempo of the game.
Msasa brought smiles to the Nomads family when he pulled one after a long range before Chimbaka scored the second goal but could not salvage a draw.
Ndawa said Wanderers is going through “a bad spell” but decline to empty his chest.
The club’s supporters committee chairperson Yona Green-Malunga said supporters are “concerned” with the team’s continued poor run. He demanded “action” from the executive.
Nomads’ general secretary David Kanyenda promised “radical measurers” for the technical panel.
Other games
In Zomba, Silver Strikers failed to find the winning formula after a 2-1 defeat to Red Lions.
The result meant that the Zomba based soldiers are yet to lose any game in the Super League this season while for the Bankers they only managed a point from the Southern region tour after a 3-3 draw to Escom United on Saturday.
In other games, Big Bullets came from behind to force Epac FC to a 1-1 draw in a match, which was marred with drama, as the people’s team fans denied the officiating panel to go into the dressing room on recess for protesting Epac’s goal.
The fans were of the views that Lameck Thindwa scored when the three minutes
added time had elapsed.
However, Bullets equalized in the added four minutes of the second half through Diverson ‘Agogo’ Mlozi.
Big Bullets mentor, Edi Ng’onamo said: “Officiation was poor and l must say it is becoming a habit for Lilongwe based referees to favour teams from the city. They do not want teams from this side to lose matches.”
In Mzuzu, after failing to beat Kabwafu FC on Saturday, Civo United rectified their problem the following day with a 1-0 victory to Moyale Barracks courtesy of their defence pillar, John ‘Kintu’ Lanjesi.
