Nomads trim Bvumbwe Research to size, thrash them 4-0

Mighty Wanderers revenged their ousting in the prestigious Presidential Cup in the hands of Bvumbwe Research, as they were unstoppable by demolishing the Thyolo district out-fit 4-0 in the elite TNM Super League in Balaka on Saturday.

The Nomads, who recalled their vast experienced goalkeeper to man the posts, Vales Kamzere as their first choice goalkeeper Richard Chipuwa is nursing a shoulder injury notched in their first goal through Victor Mpinganjira before Gerald ‘Papa’ Phiri registered the second goal.

In the dying minute of the first 45 minutes, the Nomads engine room Joseph ‘Shakira’ Kamwendo scored the third goal before the two teams went for a recess.

Former Civo United striker, Anthony Banda was responsible in nailing the last nail on Bvumbwe’s coffin with the fourth goal to put his team on the fourth slot as far as the log table is concerned.

The Nomads, who also missed the services of their two players, Alfred Manyozo and Innocent Jere, who sneaked to Botswana to search for greener pastures have now accumulated 23 points.

Stand-in coach Felix Fosco was delighted with the second victory since he took over the mantle from Franco Ndawa.

“First of all let me salute my boys for their fighting spirit. We knew Bvumbwe were responsible in booting us out in the Presidential Cup, and we did not want to make another mistake with them,” said Fosco, while his colleague for Bvumbwe Bob Mpinganjira – a Nomads legend –
said it was part of the game.

In other games capital city giants Civo United lost 0-3 to Azam Tigers in Nchalo.

Blantyre United lost 2-0 to Epac FC at Silver Stadium.
