Prophet Bushiri in Facebook storm, ‘goes deeper’ at critics
Malawi’s renowned ‘man of God, Prophet Shepard Bushiri has hit at his critics on social networks site Facebook and asked them not to ‘like’ his page saying he did not force them to.
Usually, Bushiri posts what he claims to be prophecies and verses on his Facebook page but this time he took a turn to his crtics.
“Hey, those who don’t like what I do, just dislike my page. I am not looking for you none believers, I did not invite, liked or forced you to come on my page. We have a lot of men of God who you know are true for you, you can like their pages,” Bushiri wrote.
His Facebook page has over five thousand followers who have access to read and comment on whatever he posts.
The post in which he attacked his critics had over 1,000 comments in a space of 1 hour in which some were in agreement to what had written and some disagreed in anger.
His reaction attracted Facebook comments from several Malawians including lawyer Wapona Kita who posted on his status: “Of Prophet Bushiri and his Facebook post. Now I know why my religion teacher once shared with me the teaching prevailing that, ‘Everyone for himself and God is for us all!’ And indeed, that of all influences, religious influence is the most dangerous!”
Human rights activist Undule Mwakasungura also commented: “If you are like that how are we going to behave some of us. I think you need some counselling too man of god ! But [please] take it easy !”
Controversy
The Prophets has not been short of controversy. Two years ago ‘The Man of God’ made headlines in the local media when a Mzimba woman accused him of impregnating her and ran away from the responsibility.
Recently, Bushiri was dragged to court by a musician popularly known as Dr Cloud after ‘the man of God’ claimed that one of his secretaries aborted a child to which the Dr Cloud was responsible. The case is in court and Dr Cloud as since engaged lawyer Gift Nankhuni on the matter.
Bushiri boasted that he was the chosen one by claiming that “God never said of you and he will never say of you because he doesn’t know you.”
He then quotes the Holy Bible’s 2 Book of Timothy chapter 2 verse 19 which says nevertheless, the solid foundation of the Lord still stands.
Later the comments on the page were taken offline.
Bushiri is well known by his prophecies and healing powers but it has sparked a lot of debate and controversy.
He however posted on Facebook: “I will never fight with you, am busy fighting for my price in
heaven. It’s the lesser who fights against the greater. If what we are doing is from our ability, God will punish us and bring the judgement on us. Why panicking? We don’t fight for God, he fights for us. Keep on fighting for God. You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free. Best wishes as you are disliking my page.”
