Karonga forces draw with Blantyre: Malawi TNM Super League

A late goal by Karonga United forced Blantyre United to a 1-1 draw in a TNM Super League match played at Kamuzu Stadium on Sunday.

Blantyre United new coach Mario Gadaga is still searching for his first victory in this year’s campaign.

Gerald Mwanza scored in the 61th minute of the match for the Blantyre outfit giving hope to Gadaga of securing his first win but the visiting crocodiles from Karonga had to remain vigilant not to leave the commercial city empty handed after their 1-4 loss on Saturday to Wanderers.

Substitute Pacharo Ngwira snatched a late equaliser to give his side a creditable one point.

Karonga United coach Kondwani Mwalweni was delighted with a draw, saying it motivating.

“We are not that frustrated because a point away is not bad. We could have done better but l think fatigue also played part in our draw,” said Mwalweni.

Blantyre United technical director Lawson Nakoma admitted his disappointment.

“Conceding the goal as late as we did is frustrating,” said Nakoma.

“Despite creating a lot of scoring opportunities our strikers were not sharp enough to find goal,” said Nakoma.

In Lilongwe, there was a sigh of relief at Capital Hill after Civo United’s first win this season.

The civil servants beat Moyale Barracks 2-0.
