Schumacher Kuwali delighted with Malawi debut
Blue Eagles Football Club striker Schumacher Kuwali who made his debut for the Malawi national soccer team on Sunday has revealed that he is very delighted to have been featured for the first time in the national colours.
Kuwali played the entire 90 minutes when Flames beat the Taifa Stars of Tanzania in a 2018 World Cup qualifying match played at the Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.
He said being the first time to play for the Flames, he tried his level best to be on top of his game and has since promised to do even much better if given a chance in the future.
“This is just the beginning and there is a lot to come. Three years ago, I used to play as a social player but now I have realised I can do this big,” said Kuwali after the game against Tanzania.
“This was just my first game and if given another opportunity, I will perform far much better than I have so far done,” he added.
The player also saluted Malawians for recognizing his impact in the game against Tanzania.
According to Kuwali, Flames could have progressed into the next stage of the World Cup qualifying campaign if they could have not let in ‘give away’ goals in the first leg of the preliminary qualification game which the Flames lost 2-0 away in Tanzania.
Flames bowed out of the World Cup campaign by a 2-1 goal margin on aggregate.
Meanwhile, Flames head coach Ernest Mtawali said he is confident that the team he is building will perform wonders in the near future.
He has however confessed that he still seek the services of experienced players like Joseph Kamwendo, Zicco Mkanda, Atusaye Nyondo and Robert Ng’ambi.
Flames next assignment is in March next year in an African Cup of Nations qualifying campaign assignment.

As a striker it would have been better to score on your debut. But to be excited with dribbling then Malawi has a long way to go.
