Spokesperson for the Ministry of Justice Apoche Itimu said the legal team was putting up a legal battle at the court to vacate the injunction.

She however said the court has called for two parties to present themselves for a hearing on Friday

Four members of parliament namely Kamlepo Kalua, Enoch Chihana, Harry Mkandawire and Peter Chakwantha obtained the injunction arguing the clerk of parliament Fiona Kalemba should not be sworn in because she came third in interviews conducted at parliament by the Parliamentary Service Commission chaired by Speaker of the National Assembly Richard Msowoya.

The four legislators accuse President Peter Mutharika of tribalism and nepotism for leaving out the person who came first Judge Charles Mkandawire.

Mutharika said he picked Kalemba because of her expertise in bill drafting which he said is prerequisite for the job.

  1. Atumbuka kuzikonda and after all the panel had 4 tumbukas and one from centre what else can they do. Atumbuka mwaonekera pamtunda.

  2. APM is indeed a dunderhead. The clerk of Parliament is not responsible for drafting bills.Fiona Kalemba used to but not in the capacity as COP.Bills are tabled and scrutinized by members of parliament.Wakalambadi mkuluyi.

  3. Journalists please do not hide the district of origin of Fiona Kalemba. We all know that she comes from Ntchisi district. Is Ntchisi district in the Southern region? Is it in Nsanje or in Mangochi or in Phalombe or Blantyre? Where is Mutharika’s nepotism or regionalism coming from?

  4. Ngati amadziwa kuti womulemba alipo kale chimene amatulutsira advert ndichani? Bwanji osangopita kwamunthuyo kukamutenga ayambe ntchitoyo? Than kuwavutitsa anthu kupanga ma interview yet omulemba alipo kale.

  5. Kumangochedwetsa zinthu basi.do you seriously think you can fight the law?amapelekelanji maina atatuwo not just the one who got the highest?mayesa it’s up to the appointing authority to choose the one who has impressed him among the three?that is what the law says koma ma so called honorables think they are more powerful than the law itself.stupid

  6. Tumbukas are very selfish. Who told you that scoring highly is a prequisite for being considered for the job after an interview? Other attributes for the candidates are also considered. The employer(APM) in this case considered other factors that the interview panel overlook.Yet Tumbukas are noisy simply because its a fellow Tumbuka. That is nonsense. How many Tumbukas will be holding high posistions at parliamnet. Count them. Almost 75 percent employees there are Tumbukas. Useless tribe. Selfish tribe. Ambwenumbwenu achabechabe inu.

  7. Give the job to the one who came first. You may wish to avoid these problems in future by stipulating in the advert as to the districts or regions whose sons and daughters are eligible to apply if that is what you want.

  8. You mean the questions that were asked by the panel were not related to the job demands for her to come third? I thoiught the whole interview centred on the same job demands but she scored poorly. Employ able and capable people and not appeasement please.
