Aford’s Mzimba Central candidate broke, seeks help

As campaigning for the Mzimba Central Constituency gathers momentum, the Alliance for Democracy (Aford), has sent out an appeal for the funding of its campaign team in the constituency which it says need MK2.5 million for the rest of the campaign period.

“We do trust in the goodwill of you our trusted friends, colleagues even in Diaspora and other international friends and organization. AFORD remains the epitome of democratization in Malawi, whose preservation is not negotiable,” the party’s Chairperson for Elections and Campaign Dan Msowoya said.

Mzimba Central Constituency fell vacant following the death of Professor Donton Mkandawire and voting will take place on October 9.

Aford candidate Njolwa

Msowoya made the impassioned plea in a statement made available to Nyasa Times on Wednesday.

He claimed Aford’s performance in the yet to held by election in Mzimba Central has attracted curiosity.

“The lady Enita Wezi Njolwa has made politics the noble thing again. Her campaign has however met with a three pronged crisis; Food for the campaign team, Transport for her runs in this vast constituency and Small stipends for the polling station monitors,” Msowoya said.

He said the participation of Njolwa will trigger a turning point for the party as they prepare to hold a national conference to restructure and reposition the party.

“AFORD is the answer really. The spontaneous governments keep showing up without proper popular mandate through the ballot, which in the process have brought disrepute on the entire nation,” Msowoya said.

He said people of good will may donate to the Party’s Bank Account: Aford11, National Bank of Malawi Mzuzu Branch, Account Number – 3425339.
