Leading mobile telecommunications operator Airtel Malawi  has  announced the launch of a short code that will enable all well-wishers contribute towards the betterment of the welfare of flood victims.airt code

The code 140 is part and parcel of the campaign dubbed #NdifeAmodzi.

This is strictly an SMS code and all well-meaning citizens are called on to send a blank SMS or simply text ‘Ndife Amodzi’ to 140.

Each SMS costs MK100 and all proceeds shall be donated to the Department of Disaster Management and Red Cross.

As a concerned and passionate corporate citizen, Airtel believes every little help counts and that there is strength in togetherness for a thorough national cause.

This code will work hand in hand with a toll free number 115 which was already established in partnership with other telecommunications operators.

Currently, only Airtel’s prepaid subscribers are privileged to utilizing code 140. A confirmatory SMS shall be sent to every subscriber after transacting in this exercise.

“Everything is possible when we connect,” reads the statement from Airtel.
