Arise and go back to the Father

Many times people have gone astray thinking they will be able to make it without God. For others, it is out of ignorance that they don’t know Who God is, while for others they know but they just want to be disobedient. I realize that almost everyone knows God, but I am talking about that personal relationship with Him. God want us to seek Him, in the hope that we might find Him, though He is not far from us (Acts 17:27).

The prodigal son gives us a perfect picture of our journey to salvation and the love of God. Even when we think we don’t need God anymore, He is still doing all He can to bring us back in His Kingdom. The Bible tells us that the son left and went into a far country to enjoy his money and pleasure. This is where sin can take you, because it looks pleasure at the beginning as you have all friends you can mention in the world but leading to destruction.

The bible tells us that when he had spent all, he began to be in want and no man gave unto him. All the enemy does from God’s children is to steal, kill, and destroy, while Our father has it all and want to bless us that we may have life more abundantly (John 10:10).

This is a son that had plenty in his father’s house, now he has been reduced to a beggar feeding on the husks that the swine did eat. In the father’s house, he had plenty and many servants worked for him.

Many of God’s children are in this condition because they have gone far away from the Father just like the prodigal Son did.  In the world there is dryness, you will suffer both physically and spiritually. Even though the son was suffering from hunger, this pertains to the soul of man which hungers for the Lord and can only be satisfied by the Lord, and not worldly things of food.

We see the son deciding to arise and go back to the father. This is the first step that we all take to come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. We need to realize the need for salvation and this is a personal decision that no one can ever make for anyone. When the father saw him, he did not wait for him to arrive; he had compassion and ran, and fell on his neck and kissed him.

Only God can do this to His children. We come to Him very dirty because of all we get from the world. But the moment we go back to Him, there is a great celebration in heaven over one sinner who repents (Luke 15:7). There is nothing that pleases our God over one soul being saved.
