Bande denies MCP link: Stays loyal to JB and PP

Minister of Mining, John Bande has said he has no intention whatsoever to resign from the ruling People’s Party (PP) to join the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) as had been speculated.

Bande had earlier on also been quoted by Nyasa Times rejecting speculations linking him to MCP. He on Monday insisted he has no reason to dump PP and let alone join MCP.

He said he is not a political prostitute who could just join the opposition anyhow without reasoning.

“I am a members of PP and am not quitting. My loyalty to President Joyce Banda is unquestionable.  I remain PP and will continue to help President Banda to provide robust leadership for the country beyond 2014, he said.

Bande described the speculations linking him with MCP as “nonsense”.

He said: “ it’s the silliest of the silly season stories in a year of elections.”

“It’s just nonsense, and I think we shouldn’t waste too much time talking about things which simply aren’t true,” added Bande.

“If there are rumours they are unfounded,” he added.
