The group, which is currently on tour to China, weeks after touring the United Kingdom, confirmed their Malawi trip via Twitter this week.

“Yes Africa, we are headed to Malawi on August 29,” tweeted the multi- award winning a cappella group to their 26,000+ followers.

At their Lilongwe show, the group will be supported by Malawi’s own a cappella choral group, the Joyful Souls.

Ladysmith Black Mambazo was formed in the early 1960’s and carved a truly unique soulful African sound.

With a musical discography of over 50 albums, Ladysmith Black Mambazo have received numerous accolades including two Grammy Awards and two nominations. They have also received an Academy Award nomination.

Their influence has led to their contributing soundtrack material for a number of films including The Lion King Part II, Coming to America, Marlon Brando’s A Dry White Season, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Cry The Beloved Country and Invictus.

  1. These people moves my Soul with extreme power. Their prowess is unique. I wish l could be at the show, but there’s alot on my plate. Tizawonera pa kanema

  2. Sakukakamiza kupitako nde anthu musakambe zambiri. Ife tizapita kukanjoya osati pang’ono. If you convert this into dollars it is very cheap; please note that this group is from SA so they are alot of costs involved. Asafina asiye muyisova.

  3. Too late for them to come to Malawi. They have all aged and I don’t think they can entertain us now that 15 years ago. Too Late to call them and should be postponed

  4. This is meant for foreigners, expertriates living in Malawi with euros, dollars, rands, etc where K15,000 is part of thier entertainment package.

We will continue to be entertained by “ma blacks’ and other local bands…thank you.

  5. Ndalama zake za Cashgate or zochokera kuti? K5,000 for VIP and K2,000 for Standard could be reasonable.

  6. chomwe ndaonapo pa ma comment ndichakuti umbuli mix chimidzi zili pa tsogolo kwathu kuno…a show in S.A will cost about R500 AND Hinger depending on the artist…which is almost the same price as this 15 thiusand…the other issue here is entrtainment is a luxury..ndi zinthu zosangalatsa moyo chabe..its not a necesity so its for the people that can afford kuzipepesa..itys not for every jack and jim..ngati ulibe ndalama zodzidyesa sungakhale ndi ndalama zokasangalalila..nde ngati ulibe ndala?sungila uzapita ku show ya nkasa

  7. First ever show in Malawi? These guys have been here before at the MBCs our people our pride.

  8. These people should be coming to Malawi when they are at their peak. Frankly speaking when they are hot they dont even think of Malawi koma akasowa kopita ndiye amabwerano kwathu kuno. No need. Organised bullshit.

  9. Mwati pa 29 August. Next week . This is a flop . You will hardly see people there. I Do not even think you will have more than 50 people . It’s too expensive and very late promotion

  10. Those prices seem steep for regular Malawians. Is this perhaps an event exclusive to a certain cadre of our population?
