Blue Eagles go top of Malawi TNM Super League: Sweep Max Bullets aside
Blue Eagles stunned Max Bullets 5-3 to top the TNM Super League table on Sunday in a match lowly patronised at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.
The Area 30- cops also breathed fire on Saturday as they beat Azam Tigers 1-0 in Nchalo to go four games without any defeat.
They clipped Dwangwa United in their first game before stunning Epac FC. They also pruned Tigers before Max Bullets on Sunday.
They have 12 points from four games.
Maxwell Salambula, who was also voted man of the match, inspired his side as he netted three goals with Charles Ngosi and Gregory Nachipo scoring each.
Max Bullets made the better start with the likes of Frazer Menyani and Mayeso Mphanje dictating the game but lost the rhythm after 20 minutes.
From there, Blue Eagles looked set to dominate – Chisomo Chilasa provided the service for Gilbert Chirwa to run into the channels with support arriving from Osward Mawonga and Ackim Kazombo but their final touch was too weak to threaten Max keeper.
However, in summary, Max Bullets lacked the killer punch upfront and their goalkeeper also let in silly goals which could have been avoided.
On the other side, Blue Eagles despite winning by a wide margin most of their players looked tired, may be because of the fatigue after Saturday’s match against Tigers.
Blue Eagles coach Dekleck Nsakakuona congratulated his boys for collecting deserved six points from the southern region urging them to continuerefusing to wilt in their unlikely tilt for the title.
“The most important thing today is to congratulate my players. It was a great day for us.
“There was a great atmosphere out on the pitch. It was a great victory.
“We deserved the victory and we were better than Max Bullets .”
Asked where the win ranked in his career, the area 3 based out-fit boss said: “For me, it’s only three points.
“I think it is a good victory against the home team, who I think are one of the best teams in the League.”
Max Bullets coach Patrick Kulemeka said despite their defeat his players tried their best and assured their fans of better results soon.
Max Bullets enjoyed massive support from ganyu fans, including their fans who had travelled from Chiradzulu.
