British woman arrested for entering Malawi illegally

Immigration authorities at Mwanza border and police have arrested a 60-year-old Bristish woman for allegedly entering the country using unchartered routes.

Arrested British citizen

Mwanza border immigration spokesperson Pasqually Zulu says the details on her photocopies of a passport which she claims was lost in South Africa, indicate she is Cheryl Ann Dee and was born in Brisbane, Australia.

Zulu claims she entered through unchartered routes on a motorbike.

Her health is being checked and investigations are underway to find the reasons of her coming to Malawi.

This comes at a time when the country is positioning itself to get prepared to deal with the deadly corona virus.

Zulu said the British national did not follow the official channels in entering the country that could have allowed health officials to screen her for the deadly corona virus.

Knowing how the British are thorough on immigration issues, I can’t understand why she set out on a long trip without travel documents. Did she report loss of passport to her embassy in RSA? At least some form of proof that she lost a passport may have given her some benefit of doubt.

Where is she going? If Malawi, can anyone vouch for her?

Let this woman help us to help her.

1st give her some food. Then water to drink. 2nd, ask her questions. Then take it from there.

Deport straight away. Fact that she used uncharted route indicates she knew she was commiting a crime. Spare a thought for africans legally in her country who have to face racial hurdles and prejudices daily just to survive.

Akuti Screen her for the Deadly Corona Virus, the borders and airports are a joke. Your health officials are standing there with buckets of water asking people to wash their hands as a response to a Global Medical Pandemic. Like Silungwe said, Shit is Shit, no matter how you dress it! Malawi Health Department has no clue how to deal with such, no quarantine facilities and no methods of even testing for Corona so how exactly are you going to Screen people?? SHUPIT!
