Chakwera pressurised to reinstate Kandodo
There is trouble brewing in the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) following the firing of Ken Kandodo as Labour Minister for his involvement in the alleged mismanagement of Covid-19 funds.
Shortly after Chakwera gave his Labour Minister the boot, Malawi Congress Party elders in Kasungu took the issue as a war between Kasungu MCP and Lilongwe MCP.
We can exclusively reveal that MCP custodians in Kasungu sent an envoy to President Chakwera demanding the reinstatement of Kandodo as cabinet minister and to “stop taking MCP as a Lilongwe party.”
Weeks later President Chakwera has bowed to pressure and publicly apologized on Friday when he addressed people in Kasungu on his way to Mzuzu.
“Inu a Kandodo simudalakwe. Kungoti muma ofesimu muli anthu otcherana ndale. Ofuna kukugwetsani. Ine sidadziwe kuti mwabwera (Mr. Kandodo there was nothing wrong you did. Only that people want to finish you in your office. Be careful, some people have scores to settle with you,” said Chakwera, marking the first sign of the reinstatement of Kandodo soon.
A local analyst has since described Chakwera as a weak leader who has been captured by MCP forces and he is failing to make independent decisions. The analyst said once Chakwera re-appoints Kandodo he is going to lose his global standing, earned when he showed resolve in fighting corruption within his Government.
The MCP politburo has Chakwera against letting his Vice Saulos Chilima stealing his shine, according to Nyasa Times source.
Chakwera’s visit is seen as an attempt to downplay the impact his Vice’s visit three weeks ago.

H E Dr Chakwera, what you did was very correct and ethical. Stand by your decision. As a country let no one misled others. People must earn their positions. No time for nepotism. Mwana wa uje. No no no. Some people just do not have grass root support.
The dynamism of power swings in any political settings is manifested in the level of instability of the mind of its rulers when it comes to decision making. Since the concerned minister was sacked. a lot has surfaced both within and outside the MCP political realm. The ever-surfacing of local political insurgence in Kasungu coupled by underground dissatisfaction as well as recent confessions are manifestations of this assertions!!!
Chakwera can hire a minister anytime and fire him or her just after hours. The constitution allows him. Malawians ndi mtundu wa anthu osokonokezeka. Before the firing there was a lot of noise from all angles pressing HE Chakwera to release the audit report. HRDC was planning demos. Now he has taken some fools are saying he is a weak leader. I have seen a lot of weaknesses in Chakwera’s rule. Amangozindikira walakwitsa in his decisions. One of the blunder he did was to interdict Controlling Officers and told the Nation that he will re-instate them after one month. Serious speaking, most of these Controlling Officers are victims of circumstances, they are being penalized for the sins they have not done or they are not aware of. MCP does Not Belong to Dr Kamuzu Banda and family. Remember, Kamuzu was just given leadership by Orton Chirwa and the likes of Aleke Banda, Kanyama Chiume etc.
The Kandodo and Kazombo From Kasungu, they should Not Claim Ownership of MCP.
John Tembo didn’t own MCP, but he kept the party alive for a long time in Opposition for 26 years.

Well said. If Kasungu people have nothing better to offer than the corrupt Kandodo, they can go hang! Chakwera is Malawi leader, not Kasungu leader. There’s no such thing as Lilongwe MCP vs Kasungu MCP. Kutumbwa eti? Dowa is the only district that had almost 100% vote for MCP yet we don’t see them behaving with a sense of entitlement
