Chakwera vows to be ‘president for everyone’: Says 2019 has left Malawians with scars
Malawi Congress Party (MCP) president Lazarus Chakwera says 2019 has left Malawians with what he described as painful scars and that although it is for the Constitutional Court judges to decide the merits of the presidential election case, as a petitioner, he is hopeful that justice will prevail.

The MCP leader said he is praying that the scars should heal in 2020, vowing to be a president for everyone, including those who are not supporters of his party.
Chakwera said this in his message on New Year eve.
He said he hopes justice will prevail in the presidential case whose verdict is expected early this year.
“Perhaps you have suffered the pain of losing friends over politics because the 2019 campaign was so divisive,” he said.
He said 2019 was characterized with lack of medicine in public hospitals, poor road infrastructure and poor economy which he said only favoured the rich.
“So I know that many of you are entering the New Year with unhealed injuries and unresolved injustices,” he said.
The MCP leader says if the Constitutional Court nullifies the May 21 presidential election, he is more than ready to be the country’s president, saying he would be a unifying leader and lead a government that delivers change.
“If the ruling of the Court nullifies the 2019 presidential election, as I hope, then I want you to know that I am more ready than ever to serve you, to give you a government that delivers change, to be a president that unites Malawians across regions, tribes, and parties, and to make 2020 the year in which our nation’s transformation truly began.”

Leader of Malawi Chewa Party OR Malawi Crocodile Party
I may have voted for you at one point but your coalition with Joyce Csshgate Banda completely turned me off
Chakwera doesn’t know how court verdicts are reached. Court cases are very complicated and the best one can do is to keep quiet. The comments made now could be catastrophic tomorrow, even Lawyers cannot predict the outcome of a court case.Judges go beyond facts and evidence to come up with Judgement. Mind you this is the first time Malawians have had this type of case and there is no precedent yet. Judges too will have tough time. to reach a logical conclusion. So, let’s just wait and see.Ntchentche ya matama inaphinjidwa ndi tudzi. I like the position of Santa Clause – his Lawyers advised him not to comment on the just ended court hearing – that’s the way to go.
Malawi cannot change with the same old and tasted!. We need a complete overhaul of leadership and mindset. Chakwera is too weak of a leader and MCP has blood on its hands.
Malawians are waiting for your servant leadership Mr President. And just very ready to work with you Man of God.
The time to change Malawi is now with DR. CHAKWERA
So justice to chakwera means courts nullifying the 3019 presidential elections? Nothing less will mean injustice
i can see u are talking things of 3019 .we are timely living in different world .hence they reflect differently to meaning of nature of life to its natural justice
Definitely not you with your fake accent and silly smile😆😆😆
MCP is a ruthless party, worse than DPP kupha, kumanga anthu osalakwa, kusowetsa anthu,
No party in Malawi, except DPP, has ever slaughtered 21 young people in a day! So you do not know what you are talking about!!
Chakwera May be a leader of a church but I can’t see him as a leader of our country under the flagship of MCP……., he is too weak!!!!
Matama ake amenewo …….yausiru
No no no please no! We can’t have MCP with Chakwera and his stupid H5. MCP has blood on its hands
ukunama mphwanga
Over my dead body! The atrocities committed by MCP are just too painful to be pushed under a rug. We lived in terror and we just go back to those day
But we can push under the rag DPP slaughtering 21 young people in a day??!!
A Chakwera dekhani, kupupuluma bwanji????
That is the mentality we are sick of me me me me eish kutopetsa
As much as I need change I don’t believe Chakwera is the person to take us out of this plight… I’m sorry
True

Judges, make nor mistakes people are tired of Demon possessed people (dpp) if you’re doing it for money think twice. Go return dirty money u took from an old fool peter, or else u will regret the day u were born.
Fellow Malawians, I do not mind who comes into power but should be a leader with Vision and put Malawians first; not putting friends and relatives, clones and Hand Clappers first. He has to be determined and decisive to root out CORRUPTION from its Core.He/She should Root out CORRUPTION by Locking up for life though caught practicing it. I remember when I was a Consultant at UNDP in Kigali, Rwanda,Paul Kagame locked up a government official for life for stealing an equivalent of only R1,000. Again still in Rwanda, they have fantastic Highways and Clean Cities, yet in Malawi, a DUAL CARRIAGE Highway between Blantyre and Lilongwe is still a far-fetched dream of 100 Years to come. Let alone the Main Road M1: Blantyre to Mzuzu, is a shameful and pitiful site. It is not rocket science to know that Roads infrastructure spurs developmental activities of the country and boosts its economic growth. Yet Leadership yells they have build Roads, which Roads? I challenge anyone disputing my assertions to drive at night from Lilongwe to Kasungu and see what I am talking about. I wonder if you will reach Kasungu without a Tyre puncture or damaged shocks. God help Malawi. We cannot remain one of the poorest forever, overtaken by Mozambique and Rwanda as better countries in development and wealth, yet these countries went through traumatic experiences. . What did we Malawians do to deserve this? A grieving committed Malawian.
Because you are poor…develop income generating activities first before you talk of good roads. Where is the money come from to do all the fancy stuff you talk about? Don’t forget Moz and Ruanda benefited from rebuilding efforts of the international community after devastating wars…Malawi has been ignored since Kamuzu…with it’s high population, poor industrial capacity and poor governance structures you can’t expect any real development until a deliberate effort is made to develop mines, tourism and commercial agriculture…otherwise corruption is rooted in our culture and Chakwera wouldn’t even know where to start because even in his party there are seriously corrupt people…
This the most useless comment overheard from a sane educated fool like Mr ZDB Chiyenda Yekha. Mr Mvuma cited corruption of DPP as the main reason derailing development. He even gave an example of a person in Rwanda who was jailed for longer period for stealing R1000. Yet you Chiyenda Yekha cant read that. How many overnight millionares has DPP created from stolen money??? I think you need to go back to school.
My dear, where is the money these thieves in government steal, coming from? If our country had no money, today we couldn’t be seeing politicians in ruling parties becoming billionaires over short periods of time. As Dr. Mvuma has rightly said, if we are do develop as a nation we should not look at what party would rule us, but who can rule us, his priorities, his vision for this nation to stump out corruption, to uphold the rule of law, and revump our economy.
If the president himself can bow so low to accept corrupt money from business people inorder for such people to be awarded dubious contracts so as to swindle tax payers money instead of using the same money to build roads esp M1 Road from Lilongwe to Kasungu, how do you expect such a president to crack his fist on currupt people, iye amene Ali corrupt? No way.
Tikamanena kuti this country is poor, we are not honest with ourselves.
Not much relevance here. Only description and no analysis of the scenarios in Rwanda or Moz. To be sure, this cannot the kind of presentation that helped Rwanda get out of economic doldrums. Cannot be.
I doubt if those who were attacking others in the name of Chakwera will allow him to be “president for everyone”. The attacks show how hard life for those who are not following Chakwera will be. If they can attack others when they are not in power, what more can they do if in power. May God help Malawi.
How can someone say Chakwera stop dreaming yet you used tippex, fake documents and altered jublicate forms to declare Muthalika President else he lost to Chakwera and I can see the good days drawing closer and closer to bail Malawiand from bondage eeesh never never dpp again.
Day dreamer. Keep on dreaming.
Never Never (repeated on purpose) MCP again. The Party strikes extreme fear to most Malawians based on its governance history. And don’t believe the ultras who preach that the present MCP is a changed Party, and is different from Kamuzu’s.
MCP’s record on human rights utterly stinks; the party cannot recover from that Nazi-like record.
Maybe, perhaps oChakwera may have a chance at winning a presidential election if he ran as an Independent. Not as MCP. Absolutely NOT.
And oh, please, get that rented American accent OUT of here.
You are a bad adviser.Even Mutharika I mean Bingu could not win the presidency on an independent ticket.
Stop being selfish and learn to speak the truth.
Malawi belongs to anyone.
The post of presidency belongs to all Malawians if voted by majority just as you would like us to believe that majority voted for Mutharika.
So why restricting others?
What special qualities do Mutharika has over others?
For example if MCP kills DPP kills as well.
Recently a police officer implicated Mutharika in albino killings.
The presidency is still mum on a number of sticky issues despite repeated calls from the public.
The presidency and the government have not up to date communicated their intent with regard to the raping of young women some married and some not, police’s sexual assault on the same and Mutharika alleged involvement in a brutal killing of albinos.
In simple language Mutharika himself is highly conflicted to hold public office.
I agree with Aubrey. oMachemba you are not truthful and neither are you rational. Student Chasowa was brutally murdered at Poly during the DPP reign, what has DPP government done, just sat Phwii. There are some serious allegations against some senior government officials in DDP of being involved in MURDERING some ALBINOS and what has DDP government done, nothing. Somewhere else these officials would have resigned because their humanity would have convicted them. These thugs, without human morality, killing a scared human being is as killing a chicken. This is a sign that they are Hard core Criminals. Some DDP senior officials have been found to have abused power and involved in dubious dealing related to corruption at highest level, yet they are till DPP leaders and still clapping Hands for Peter. This is a tragedy of highest level for Malawi.. Yet oMachemba you sing and ulurate the innocence of DPP., which means you are party to the misgivings that DDP has done. Watch out, God is not sleeping. When we innocent Malawians shall rise and cry to our Loving and Compassionate Heavenly Father, the battle with be that of David and Goliath.. I rest assure you our God never Fails.
Omachemba uzakomoka ufune usafune chakwira 2020 bomaaaaaaaa
@Mbwiyache:
Kikiki Koma mpaka kumufunira oMachemba kuti akomoke pa nkhani yache yomweyi? BTW, where have you been hiding, and why, over the past two years?
oChakwera will simply maintain the MCP tradition of losing and ‘Atiberanso, Mayo, Mayo.”
DPP slaughtered 21 young people in one day! Is this not a record!!??
Not true that MCP strikes fear in Malawian. Which Malawians? People with blood who used to be in MCP are no longer in the party. We are talking of Dausi. We are talking of Nthaba. We are talking of the Mpinganjiras and many more. These people today are small god’s in DPP. Awawa awa ndi omwe amaononga MCP. By the way everyone who today is 30yrs old was MCP in 1994. Thus amene munachokanu ndi omwe mumaonga MCP. Munapita ndi magazi Anu. Today mcp is bloodfree, stainless, and clean!
Today DPP are known for all atrocities committed in the past recent years! Who is behind the mudder of Chasiwa? Who is behind the mudder of Njauju? Who is behind the numerous attempted shootings of Timothy Mtambo?
As Malawians we are so blind that we cannot see. Shame on us.
Whoever takes the sceptre can not change Malawi by themselves, every individual or citizen has to be willing to play a role to minimise corruption, to embrace each other as Malawians and stop this rubbish of calling people Yao, Tumbuka, chewa e.t.c.People should be willing to report any financial mismanagement without disclosure of their identity…… In which case any of the presidential hopefuls will give guidance and policy direction.
Chakwera and the day-light dreaming!! Never MCP again in Malawi
Mukunamatu inu
He will be one, just wait!
Okey, Okey, Okey. REMEMBER THIS: Stupidity is Human Rights as well, BUT do not misuse it!!!
Anthu akusankhidwawa a kummwera ndiye Muti Chani tsono ANTHUNI?
Change is imminent.
Chakwera stop dreaming! You are one fake dog! Your accent is fake and your trip to Israel was fake! And your court case is fake! When the hell are you going to stop been fake????? How does one take pictures at Holy sites and post them for everyone to see??? Very stupid and desperate you are!!! They is no rerun my friend!! Keep dreaming you desperate bunch of losers!!! Go back to your church and fake preaching
Kulankhula kwa munthu wamkulu kumeneku si za nkhalamba ija.
This MCP president unfortunately has too many maloto avhumba, plots ali m’mapasa uku mkabudula mutazizira. Where the hell does he get the thought of becoming a president for Malawi in 2020? Ukagwere fake accent ex-reverend nyolonyo yona Chakwera…EMUSIPI inatikwana ndi nkhanza and dambwe governance. Ukagwere.
