Child dies at hospital as staff strike

Operations at the Dowa district hospital have been paralysed as health workers went into strike  which has claimed the life of a six-year-old child.

The health workers are striking over LOCUM allowances.

The child was waiting for treatment when she passed away. She was however left unattended and died Monday morning.

The hospital spokesperson Daniel Chilomo described the girl’s death was natural.

Chilomo said the hospital administration hope that “a solution will be found soon.”

Ministry of Health spokeman Henrry Chimbali called on the health workers to be reasonable and give dialogue a chance
