Chilima confident to be Malawi’s next President: Losing election not an option

A confident Vice President Saulos Chilima  believe  he will win the presidential race in the May 21  2019 Tripartite Elections and consign President Peter Mutharika to retirement.

Chilima: Losing is not an option

He has told two private-owned television stations, Times  TV and  Rainbow TV, in exclusive interviews monitored by Nyasa Times that there will be leadership change through the ballot on May 21.

Chilima, who is  also UTM Presidential candidate in the May elections,  said the elections were just a formality as he prepares for the inauguration after the elections.

During the interview with Times TV, Chilima rubbished claims by ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) that is is set for an “operation landslide victory”,  saying they are starring at an electoral humiliation.

Chilima said unless ‘landslide’ context is about the way they will exit corridors of pow, DPP is simply bluffing in public while shitting in their pants with worries in private over looming defeats in the forthcoming polls.

“I with be the sixth President of the Republic of Malawi. The incumbent will be proceeding to retirement,” he said.

Chilima pointed out that since the launch of  his UTM Party last year, the  DPP has tried, without success, all sorts of tricks to counter UTM popularity but has always failed miserably.

They have tried buying beer for people to drink near UTM rally venues. They have brought live band entertainment to counter UTM rallies. They have conducted rallies on the same dates and near UTM rally venues and even torching UTM branded cars to disturb UTM rallies but failed. They also attempted to block  registration of UTM as a party.

Chilima said people should not believe in the DP`p bluff and delusional claims of a potential landslide win in May 21 elections.

And on Rainbow TV he was asked if he had any fallback plan if he would lose an election.

Chilima said “let that question be directed to others if they have plan B because in any election there is one winner and in this particular presidential poll in Malawi, that winner will be Chilima.”

He said UTM are ready to form the next government.

    1. Land slide sweeps away those are stubborn, who don’t want to run from it. So the landslide comes to sweep away all opposition. No man can stand a landslide, so be prepared. DPP will sweep the seats and the presidential position. Ignore it at your own peril.

My house @ Namatete is the nxthouse to the UTM vice President, this has helped me having a good info & research on how I can predict whether Chilima is to win or not without any favour,I wish if he can really coz I can have an advantage.But thru my analytical, judgemental & intellectual skills,Chilima will not be the next President, his party may come second or third position ! If you dared to face the one party regime like we did in 1993 you may have a sense of urgency at how far we’ve come. When the promises of a better and prosperous Malawi was in the offing, this is not what we dared fight for. Ask the likes of Charles Simango and the Democrat Team. The Pressure Groups, Maybe the Bishops, Maybe Chihana, the like of Kahumbes, Mapopas, the University students you may have an idea. This crap that is happening now was won over the shoulders of many that were imprisoned. The 70 lot that spent the nights at Chichiri Prison just because they were exercising their freedom of speech and assembly, the closing of schools and colleges just to bring to an end a one party system.   26. Fertilizer without taxes can cost around K6,000 . He may remove all taxes on fertilizer to bring it down BUT who will benefit? The foreign tobacco buyer will benefit as they will still buy our tobacco on a very low price and the farmer will still make profit

  32. Congrats in advance for your expected victory. Malawi needs change. May God bless you. My concern is on your aspiring MPs. I doubt much on their ground coverage. There was need for a strategic review in regards to approach. There must be uniform talk and walk.
    Could you also publicise the qualifications of the top 2. The other parties have standard 8 qualifications but try to talk more. Viva UTM. Viva Malawi.

      president is given tasks by the president himself and if the president is not giving him the tasks should we blame the VP. Here APM goofed. Ntaba and colleagues were in a commission to find out about the PWAs, what did they bring about until of late APM has instituted another committee. Didn`t Ntaba and colleagues consume our taxes?
