President Peter Mutharika and First Lady Gertrude led the nation in an outpouring of pride last night after Malawi’s Scorchers stormed into the final of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Rabat, Morocco.

The Malawi Women’s National Football Team sent shockwaves through the tournament with a stunning 3-1 victory over Algeria, booking a mouth-watering final showdown against the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon this Sunday.

Taking to his official Facebook page, an elated President Mutharika kept it short and sweet: “Congratulations Scorchers.”
