Chitipa Utd remain winless six games: Malawi TNM Super League

Chitipa United continue to suffer in the counry’s top flight  TNM Super League following ter failure to beat Moyale Barracks at Mzuzu Satadium on Sunday, their sixth game winless as the debutants again went down 0-1.

Chitipa United looked doomed

The soldiers came into the game very physical but the debutants were able to pass the ball around as they made forward moves but Juma Chikwenga was superb in goals for Moyale Barracks.

With their long balls, the lions of Kaning’ina were terrorizing Chitipa United whose defenders were finding it hard to deal with aerial balls in their 18 metre box. T

Slippery winger Brown Magaga broke through on the right and entered Chitipa United’s 18 metre box where he was brought down by Peter Mughogho. Referee Misheck Juwa had no option but to point to the deadly spot after flashing a yellow card to Mughogho.

Player of the moment Khuda Muyaba stepped up to take Moyale’s spot kick, sending goalkeeper Lloyd Munthali the wrong way in the 35th minute. 1 nil to the soldiers.

In the second half, Chitipa United introduced fresh legs of Maclean Mwamlima in their midfield.

In the 64th minute, Clement Mwalwanda for Chitipa United curved in a sharp cross from the right. Abel Mwakilama’s connection hit the goalkeeper and Maclean Mwamlima’s shot was again blocked by goalkeeper Juma Chikwenga.

After 90 minutes, it was Moyale Barracks 1 and Chitipa United 0.

After drawing nil-nil against Nyasa Big Bullets on May 6 at Mzuzu Stadium in their opening TNM Super League match, Chitipa United have gone on to lose every game that they have played since their promotion to the country’s top flight league.

Speaking to Nyasa Times after the match, Assistant Coach for Chitipa United Robert Mziza said his team’s loss was the referee’s decision.

“We have a lot to do. We will try our best to start producing desired results. Our supporters should not despair,” added Mziza.

Moyale Barracks coach Charles Kamanga said it was a tough game but his charges played according to instructions.

“Chitipa United came hard on us. They could score one or two goals only that we were well organized in our play,” explained Kamanga.

Chitipa United need to improve a lot if they are to fight for relegation. But for now, they look doomed.
